I have a guy friend and we've been flirting and talking about things we would like to do to the other since years ago. He mention things that I shared with him in private from years ago, he still remember very well some details. He told me that he feel lucky to do this with me, that I am special and that he is flirty and bad when he only talks with me. He compliments me a lot and can call me by cute nicknames too.
Do guys say that just to make the girl feel better or because that girl is very special to them?

It depends on the guy honestly. Some guys its just a game others it would be your the one for him. Me personally it would be that you are more special to me than a game. I'm not a fan of those kinds of games and honestly suck at them. But for him you are probably going to have to ask him to figure out what he is.
In all honesty, it could just be about having fun with you. Yeah he remembers stuff and calls you nicknames but that's all a part of the game.
I wouldn't suggest you to develop your feelings further unless you have met and gotten to know him in person. It's all hazy until then.
