Is my guitar teacher flirting with me?

I'm currently taking guitar lessons and may have developed a crush on my teacher. I'm 24, he's 32, we may have an age gap but we get along pretty well.

During our lessons, he's always teasing me and trying to make me laugh by making goofy noises or gestures. We tend to get off topic sometimes too and just start joking around. He's also very playful with me, like when we both get to the practice room at the same time, he'll try to get in before me and then playfully close the door. Or he mimics what I do or say during practice. Sometimes he'll show off his skills to me, but says he's doing it so he can make me jealous because I can't do it. It's all very lighthearted and in good fun.

I'm not sure if he acts this way with others. We don't interact much outside of practice, aside from a few texts here and there mainly about lesson plans. He could just be trying to make me feel at ease since I get nervous during our practices sometimes. I don't want to cross any boundaries and make him uncomfortable. Since he's the teacher, he has a responsibility to maintain a professional environment so he also can't go too far either.

But overall, do you think there may be a slight attraction on his part? My friends are divided on this so I'd like to hear other opinions. I think I'll probably confess (maybe on my last practice day) and see if he would like to go on a date, but I would also like to get some confirmation that there is some mutual attraction between us. Is there a way I can test this further without stating the obvious?

Alright here's what I think - He's definitely flirty with you. Teachers aren't supposed to act like that with students. The teasing, joking around, play fighting - that's crossing a line.

But I get why you like him too. Older guys can be more mature and experienced, so it's appealing. Just be careful. Since he's the teacher, he shouldn't ask you out. That would be taking advantage of the power dynamic.

Here's what I'd suggest - Don't confess yet. See if he acts the same flirty way with other students too, to be sure it's not just you he's into. Also think about if you want to stay being his student - things could get real awkward real fast if he says no to dating.

Maybe find a way to ask what he does outside of lessons, like if he's single or ever dated a student. See how he responds before making a move yourself. And definitely don't tell him on your last lesson - give yourself an exit plan just in case!

You’re very welcome luv, I totally get why you'd want clarity on your last lesson, but confessing then could put pressure on him since he's still your teacher. Even if lessons are ending, there's an implied power dynamic that he may feel uncomfortable crossing just yet.

As for subtle flirting tips - eye contact is key, let your smile linger a bit when you make a joke. When he shows off, give a playful "oooh impressiiiive" while raising your eyebrows. Light touches on the arm are okay too if the moment feels right.

You could also try switching things up - teach HIM something small during a lesson as payback for his showboating. Give him specific compliments, not just "you're so talented." Like "your fingering technique is so fluid, teach me your ways!"

When he texts, throw in a cheeky emoticon or two but keep it casual. Ask his opinion on music/artists you like - share your tastes with him. Oh and maintain lots of energy when you interact, let that positive vibe flow.

Id be virtually certain that he is very keen , you dont have to take too much risk , just suggest something casual that is related to music , little doubt its a goer..

With my guitar teacher I discussed my relationship status. Just coz I thoughts we were friends and I was practicing a song for a music date with another guy.
Later I think he started feeling that I am hitting on him (which I wasn’t) and he started acting very weird. I didn’t like that I weirded him out and it made me uncomfortable.
