Hi Guys and Gals!

I came across an article after hanging out with a few friends yesterday.

Reading closely, the article reinforces the idea that on some level we're basically flirting with most people we grow close to... friends as well as folks we consider "relationship material". Hmm. It reminded me of what y'all said reply to a few of my previous behavioral questions:

• How often do you text someone (opp gender) who you're just friends with?
• Why would someone with reductive thought patterns suddenly want to be friends when he doesn't value his interactions with women?
• Be honest, someone writes you a long message/email (1+ page), do you read the whole thing or just skim?
• Girls, Ladies, ever had a friend who claims she "considers you a sister" but is constantly stabbing you in the back?
• Seems one of my guy friends has caught "girl next door" fever... WT* am I supposed to do?
• How do you know if a guy just sees you as a potential "side piece"?
• Go Fish: Do guys "fish" to see if their close female friends are interested even if the gal only sees him as an elder brotherly figure, nothing more?

(It's a lot... those who have time to browse can, those who don't... skip ahead to the poll. I'm just trying to tie a few things together pertaining to a behavioral issue I'm trying to assess and resolve amicably.)

Physical Flirt: Consensually, respectfully use body language + touch to convey interest. (Eye contact, touching someone's arm/hand, standing close, playful teasing to express attraction.)

Sincere Flirt: Expressing genuine interest by getting to know someone better. (Asking qts, listening attentively, showing empathy to build a deeper connection and move to a meaningful relationship.)

Playful/Witty Flirt: Fun, lighthearted clever humor, teasing and bantering. (Jokes, puns, sarcasm, wordplay, witty banter to express attraction and create a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere, break the ice, or impress and entertain each other.)

Traditional Flirt: Uses stereotypical gender roles and social norms. (A man taking the lead to initiate + pursue a woman (who is coy and demure), which can be charming and romantic but limiting as well.)

Polite Flirt: Courteous and respectful treatment. (Compliments, expressed interest in hobbies/interests, or simply polite and attentive courtesy to show interest without being too forward.)

Subtle Flirt: Understated and indirect use of subtle cues (prolonged eye contact, smiling, or mirroring the other’s body language and mannerisms to express interest without being too overt or pushy).

Closest would be a combination of sincere and playful. More or less depends on my audience. If I am just feeing someone out I can be subtle I will be just be conversational to get a fee for them and if I am actually interested or not. It really varies.

Strangest? Probably when a woman licked my cheek once. Whereas the licking was odd, the woman who did it is what really caught me off guard. I didn’t think we remotely liked one another. Well, for one night we did.

I'm sincere. It was really strange to me once when I was being flirted with just because I really wasn't used to it!

Biggest flirting blooper was saying to my now wife "Your lips just look so good I could kiss them". Somehow that worked lol

I have prob. used some of each of these at one time or another but mostly I would say “polite” or “subtle”, I think it is important for a girl to be able to say “oh, I was just being friendly” if things do not go well so everything I do in that area, for the most part I want it to make sense either way (flirting or being friendly). On like a second date I might flirt more like “physical” but even then I try to be a little subtle so he doesn’t know for sure if it’s something I am doing deliberately. JMO!

I don't think I really flirt. I just talk and speak my mind. I also compliment anyone based on observations about them, man or woman alike. If they're really knowledgeable about soemthing, I let them know. If they have beautiful eyes, I let them know. If I like their dress, I let them know. If I love their smile, I let them know. If their passion for something is cute, I let them know.

Once at the grocery store I saw an attractive woman, no wedding ring, knocking on watermelons. I walked over and we started chatting about picking watermelons and after some witty back and forth I asked her what a bad watermelon sounded like. She picked a few and then handed me one she thought was bad. I put it in my cart and walked away saying that I'd call her if she was right. We bumped into each other in the meat section and she said that I couldn't call her if I didn't have her number so she gave it to me and said, "Since I helped you pick out melons, you should help me pick out sausage."

A couple times I've approached and the conversation turned flirty only to discover that they were 22 when I thought they were late 30s. They thought I was late 30s even though I was 52.

I'm not really one who flirts on purpose a lot, but I'm probably more of a sincere flirt. I also don't really recognize when I'm being flirted with until well afterwards, but one of the strangest flirts I got was from a waitress who said I looked like Sam from Game of Thrones (which is true). That threw me off-guard, but I could tell she meant it sincerely. That was her opener and we flirted a bit the rest of the time I was there, and a couple more times I visited after that. I was going to ask her out the next time I saw her, but I never saw her again 😔

I don't know, I just wing it. Depends on the context, history, how interested I am etc. I've never been one to use pick up lines, or player strategies. Those just aren't me.

My flirting style is not realizing a girl is into me until much later, perhaps even years later.

Like with my wife there wasn't any flirting really. She kind of gave me no choice. After we met at the concert, she visited me once, by telling me she was coming to see me.. And then when I went into the hospital, she basically told me on no uncertain terms that we were together, and I had no choice in the matter.

No regrets. I am a lucky man.

I’d say my flirting style is pretty chill and playful, nothing too over the top. The strangest flirtation? Someone once tried to impress me with magic tricks! Biggest blooper was accidentally sending a flirty text to the wrong person. Oops! What about you? XD

Check out the flirting styles that are listed... and try them on for size like you're at the tailor's, trying on a new blazer. Then tailor your favorite style so it suits your personality.

The physical one is the easiest one for a guy to use -- the smile, a little touch, something obvious bc not all guys are good with being subtle.

The playful one is the second easiest, but just watch the sarcasm till you know whether or not she likes sarcastic guys. Never say anything rude.

Traditional is MY personal fave, bc I like my man to be a man and I like to be feminine and *allow* the man to be a man... so simple... yet femenazis have overrun the planet so guys tend to shy away from this one, to my great chagrin.

As for the other questions... i don't get flirted with by women... and i was having a genuine conversation, and she just got up mid conversation and walked off not saying anything.
