Is it weird to ask a guy for a hug?

I've known this guy for almost a year...probably a year and a month now. I asked him to chill last year...just to get food and hang out. He politely declined. This year when he sees me he waves and says hi and grins - most of the time lol. If its not a grin its a smile so whatever...

I really really REALLY wanna get a hug from this guy...but I don't wanna weird him out like when I asked him to chill...I'm very shy.

Should I do it or no?

Some people have touch issues. If he is reasonably healthy, it should be OK, but if he's not, he could feel violated, so id ask, because you can't really know how someone is about such things just by watching them smile. Anyways, id ask. if asking is going to make him not do it, then he's too much of a drama queen anyways. be respectful. ask. you probably wouldn't want some guy coming up & hugging you, just because you smiled at him.. well, I wouldnt. & I definitely know guys who do not take well to random acts of physical kindness.

You don't need to ask all the time. Observe him and notice if other girls give him hugs too. If they do, then just go for it, but if you don't see him hugging other girls than ask first. It happens to most guys where girls just go up to them and hug them, if you just do it with confidence, he can't really say no and he won't think much of it.

not true. some people gave touch issues. & they may not feel the same way every time. she can do what se wants, of course. but the argument that most guys get that sort of treatment doesn't mean anything. you can't just assume people are all the same. its arrogant.

anyways asking is not going to hurt. if he freaks out that might hurt _him_. which would be selfish. Asking is just respectful, whether you ned to or not. its never 'unethical'. crossing physical boundaries -is-.

Completely normal. When I was young all the girls asked for hugs... Not something that happens too often as an adult though unless it's someone you are dating, a close friend, or a family member.

I wouldn't ask, I'd just go up to him and hug him. When you ask, it dampens the mood. Surprise hugs make me happy, so I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
