this guy who I kinda liked let me drive his old bmw once and I want to know if it means something at all or is it pretty normal. I have always thought that guys value their cars too much to borrow them to a girl

I don't value my car at all really. It gets me from point A to point B, but I still don't let other people drive it. Some people like to flaunt their wealth, and gift things/let people barrow things to try and buy influence.

Oh well, I'm always suspicious of gifting from people I don't know all that well. There's generally an ulterior motive behind it to gain position or they're trying to buy their way out of a face losing mistake.

Some girls see gifts as love, some go for attention, some look for help, some need comforting, and others you just need to feed the right words to make them feel good. Most guys know this in some shape or form and they perform some of those acts to get close to women.
