Why do guys at my school only ask out popular girls?

So I go to this preppy, high-class, snobby rich kid school. So you can imagine what all the kids are like -_- I'm in 8th grade and for some reason, it's like an 'unspoken rule' that guys can only ask out and hang out with 'popular girls' It's so stupid because there are some girls who aren't 'popular' but they're so pretty and have great personalities! Not to be snobby or anything, but any guy that I meet out of school would think I'm attractive. That's why I've only dated out of school.. and if I decided to date in school, I'd only get asked out by guys who think they're "the same level of popularity" as me or below... So why can't I or any other 'non popular' girl be asked out by popular guys? Especially when we're just as pretty as the 'popular' girls and have twice as much of a personality.

this happens in EVERY school .. the so called popular girls girls .. cheerleaders and preppy girls get the guys because the boys want to look cool and be popular themselves . you know what's funny thou .. the popular girls in school might look cute now but most the girls I went to school with that was the IT girls . as soon as they got out of high school it wasn't just a few years later them same girls ended up with a bunch of kids .. gained a ton of weight and ended up most of there husbands .. if they even had one cheated on them .. this happens all the time with the IT girls.. just because there cool now don't mean nothing in a few years .. then the girls who was not popular usually end up being way more attractive later on in there 20s I don't no about you but I rather be cool in my 20s then in my teenage years .. guess who the hot guys go for later on in there 20s and 30s.. yeah the girls in school who wasn't popular .. don't worry to much about high school as far as boys go or trying to be in the in crowd .. just get your work done and graduate and get out of there .. the real fun won't start till your in your 20s anyway .. promise that !

Popularity is overrated. You're young so I'm sure that doesn't make sense now but when you get out of school, you'll see. It's not everything and though these guys may only ask out the "popular" girls, that says nothing about your beauty or who you are as a person.

They probably only ask out the "popular" girls because they feel they will be made fun of by the "in-crowd" if they ask out a girl who is not "popular." Try not to take it to heart. Like I said before, popularity is certainly not everything and once they get out of school, they'll realize that too.

That's another reason why I never dated in hs. Only guys outside of school showded interedt or guys at my showed it if we both alone.

Its cause of the "status" which is in my opinion really pathetic but most people think like this.
The guys want to be more popular by dating with popular girls(logically).Of course there are some exceptions if a boy really likes a popular girl but mostly it is only because of that "status"
