Where is a good place to advertise my small baking business?

So I've been baking for as long as I remember but I was always told by people I should start selling it... I do cupcake, cookies, puppy chow, muffins, crisp... basically anything all the recipes are either mine or my great grandma's and all made from scratch.
As soon as I posted on my snapchat that I was selling them I haven't had very many people buy... not even the people who told me to sell it... so I'm just curious where the best place to advertise would be... because I feel like I'm failing and ik my prices aren't ti expensive because I barely charge anything

Not looking to make a huge business out of this just a few sale here and their due to me having hand issues from abuse I have to take it easy on my right hand

If i was you i would bring new customers in by way of Wish!!! You know, the app for shopping and buying all kinds of things from China? Well if u ever buy things from Wish then you know that at check-out it gives u the option to have the items shipped right to your home or to save a few bucks off each item in shipping by having it shipped to a nearby local business, then u pick it up from there yourself. There are usually a few of these businesses that u get to choose from based on whats most convenient for u. They are almost always small, mom-and-pop type family owned businesses that are either new or just struggling. If u ever wondered why on earth these small businesses would take on the head-ache of having to deal with handing out Wish orders and dealing with that inventory on top of their own.. and thought to yourself they must get paid a lot if they agreed to that! Well actually, those businesses are having to pay Wish to get to do this for them!! Yep, but its because its even better than any ad u could post anywhere! It gets people to come right in to your store! a lot of people! Even if its just to pick up a package, once they are in your store then u have ur shot to make an impression and get them coming back again, only next time it might be for what YOUR selling!! I STILL go visit this old-school candy shop/bakery 40 min away from me that i never would have known about if it wasn't for me picking up my Wish orders from there a few years ago! That candy shop/bakery stopped doin the Wish thing years ago now and yet i still go back there for the bomb fudge that lady makes!! I know the price isn't way outrageous either.. Its do-able, at least for a few months or so and thats really all ya need to get the word of ur business out there and to make some customers for life!! Good luck hun

First off. Don't let those who encouraged you to sell (and not buy any) put you off. That epitomises Social Media for me and the reason I won't go on it.

Now to the important stuff, because I have some questions and concerns..

1) Have you registered as a food business?

2) Have you got all the necessary Hygiene and Safety certificates?

3) have you worked out your costs?

There are also tax forms to fill in as well but leave that for now..


I want to address number 3) your costs, because I don't know whether you've noticed this before. Some (Not all) products sell; far better when you charge more for them.. The reasoning behind it is especially with food, higher prices give the impression of higher quality.

As for the first 2 concerns.. you might have to look into that depending on the laws where you are..

I just want to sell like a few of each product a month I can't do much do to hand issues I've hurt my right hand from the abuse of paint/drawing and playing instruments and cooking and baking

I'm sorry to read about your hand. Is there any chance it can rectify itself over time? Or might you need an operation?
Those things I posted are not only for the public's protection, but also for yours.. Let's suppose someone has food poisoning and blames you for it.. I am not saying for one second you are at fault, because it most likely will be something else they've eaten but insurance, and that 'food hygiene' certificate is the first thing that will be checked, and if you aren't covered?
I'm really sorry to throw all this at you, but from what I read, it is a necessity to have those thing, even if you give the cakes away.

Maybe take out Ads in things like church bulletins or local news papers.

You can set up an account on Google My Business.
You can also enlist yourself on food ordering apps like Uber Eats.
