What was the worst thing you had in a packed lunch?

There was a recent article in British media about the worst things teachers have found in a child's pack lunch. They included a can of alcoholic cider and a cold day old mcdonald's.

But what was the worst thing your parents ever packed for you? Or have you seen something terrible in someone else's?

My parents never packed my lunch. My dad would leave a dollar on the kitchen table. I remember we had these horrible green trays for your meat and side dishes. You'd grab a small carton of milk from the fridge, your green tray, silverware. Choose between a couple of main dishes, something like pizza vs mystery meat. Then the lunch lady slapped on the potatoes and corn. You'd be extra nice to the lunch lady, in case you forgot your dollar one day and she'd throw in for you. And you'd go find some kid to sit with who didn't look like he'd blow boogers on you or beat you up.

i can't even name half the horrible shit i got xD horrible as in taste, not health. my mum was on her hippy health phase around that time. so i mostly got vegetables and powerfoods that nobody ever heard of. it was probably really good for me but i didn't like it.

My parents bought me microwave meals to heat up when we are too busy to cook and I once tried this microwaved ham that I thought was disgusting, I hate the taste of pork and will only eat it if it’s so processed that it no longer tastes like pork.

Some years ago, at work, we always kept our lunches in the fridge in the break room. There was this bag in there that was at least several days old. No one claimed it so finally, my co-worker opened the bag and found a biology project inside. We took guesses as to what the green, brown, purple and white stringy mold was originally, with the general consensus being a Tuna fish sandwich and some grapes.

Ok first let me clarify this by saying my mom is a great mom, and our lunches were always good but there was one item that I didn't fully consider back then, particularly since. It was usually to denote my having done something good. In later years I thought "really, ewwww" what you ask was it?

I remember taking bag lunches to grammar school. They had to sit in a closet until lunch time. I hated bologna and mayonnaise on white bread because the mayo would be gross after setting around for half a day.

Packed lunches were ok. My school had hot lunches from 11-18 that were mostly good but the chili con carne was revolting - all kidney beans 🤢🤮

They compensated with the best quiche Lorraine I've ever had the same day.
