Doesn’t belong there but can be added. I say this as someone who grew up religiously on ketchup and hotdogs- NO mustard or anything else. The ketchup may as well have been the bread. The ketchup was the blood to the dog’s dog.

BUT I didn’t add ketchup to the hotdogs from the New York portable, and man-operated vendors.

THOSE HOTDOGS 🌭 out of this world… just as good as ballpark hotdogs.

The thing is it drips with juicy. When it has such a unique flavor as that, I think adding ketchup to it, is blasphemy.

Does sacred and holy ketchup belong on a hotdog? No…

Those are two entities that can sometimes find themselves in the same UNIVERSE! but they aren’t required to travel all throughout the human, cosmic mouth, together!

(Yes, I speak in metaphor; no disrespect to any religious people).

Either is ok, Coach, depending what you like!! Look at it like this - the only difference between a brat and a hot dog is how coarsely ground the pork is and how you decide to spice it. Bratwursts came first, of course, originating in Germany, while hot dogs are an American creation, especially the "all beef hot dog".

In the USA, ketchup on a brat is fairly common while mustard is not, and vice-versa on a hot dog. However in Germany, it's not common at all to use condiments on sausage and they're not typically served on a bun! If anything, a mustard of some kind, like grain or Dusseldorf, might accompany a plate of German sausages.

Goodness no. I was hanging out with my buddy at his hot dog cart, mainly Chicago dogs. Guy asked for ketchup on his dog. We both looked at each other with this face of disgust and "what" look.

Get Heinz Chili Sauce next to the ketchup. It’s like ketchup but less sweat and more tang. You’ll never want ketchup again. Also the store brand is usually even better. Just don’t confuse it with Thai Chili Sauce.

I personally think it does. While I know mustard is the most popular condiment on a hotdog, I still think ketchup is good if you like a bit sweetness. Especially when it comes to a corndog specifically, full or mini.
