That's a tricky one. I'm still experimenting a lot.
First and foremost to me is to use ground elk meat, not beef. The best burger I ever tried in Texas used elk meat. It's much chewier than even the leanest beef which I actually like since it brings out a maximum meaty texture to each bite.
Then for sauce, I like to use classic burger sauce (mayo, ketchup, mustard) but with a slight tweak in that I prefer to take it easy on the ketchup, mayo, heavier on the mustard, and mix caramelized onions into it.
Swiss cheese for the cheese melted on top of the elk patty. I like Swiss since it has a very mild flavor; the melted cheese appeals to me more in terms of texture and visuals. I don't like the burger to taste too much of cheese.
Pickles are a must to me. I'm generous with the pickles.
Then lettuce and tomato. I like to add some freshness to the burger. Also a bit controversial but I like to add very thin rings of raw onion to it; just a little bit.
Toasted brioche for sure although I make do sometimes with potato buns.
For stacking, I'm still experimenting but I usually go with bun, tomato, sauce, patty, cheese, sauce, lettuce, onion, pickles, sauce, bun.
You sound like a true burger connoisseur 👍🏼💯
Cheers! 🍻 Kale also sounds interesting to me to replace lettuce. I will have to try it!
I prefer the crispy texture of kale to lettuce and it does have a slightly more appealing taste that pairs well with a burger
I had make the patties from ground sirloin. I have it ground at the supermarket. I make them extra large. I buy the large bulkie rolls from the local bakery. I preheat the grill and put the burgers on. I flip them once. I get the rolls and butter them and toast them. I get a few slices of bacon and some iceburg lettuce.
I like ot make the burgers well done.
- high quality mayonnaise, lettuce, in butter roasted onion slices, meat patty, Swiss type cheese, thin salt pickled cucumber slices, ketchup, mustard
- barbecue sauce, roasted bacon slices, fresh onion slices, meat patty, pickle slices, barbecue sauce, sweet mustard
2 Ground Beef or Sirloin patties (really anything but chuck or steak burger), American cheese, Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, and a Brioche or Sesame Bun

No tomatoes, onions, pickles, or anything else? 😧
I dislike all of that lol. Im a plain jane
I respect it, but now I have to ask... what toppings do you put on your hot dogs? 🤔
Only BBQ sauce if its a plain or grilled hot dog. If its a chili dog then just chili and mustard

if you put sauce on the lettuce it becomes soggy and wet. Like a used condom
I would add onions and red peppers and cheese inside the meat cause I like making burgers from scratch 🙂
Slice of cheese on top of the burger and some onions too
Cheese ON the burger?
Yeah cheddar

@HawkPerception I Like The Fish Sandwiches and maybe Just USA, Offering The Millions. lolxxoo
This is the hardest question I love burgers and I will try many different kinds. But bacon is always a good topping anytime and anywhere on that burger.
I'm a simple man and I like simple food. No fancy buns, no fancy cheeses, none of that. Just quality, fresh ingredients. An In-and-Out, 5-Guys, or Fuddruckers burger is fine with me.
Bun heel, burger, cheese, raw onion rings, homemade pickles (garlic dill), shake of steak seasoning, ketchup, bun crown. Optional depending on the restaurant: fried onion rings, mayo (such as Duke's). Lettuce and tomato on the side, please.
Bottom bun, lettuce, jalapeños, pickles, lamb or beefy patty, pepper jack cheese, ketchup, top bun. Fries on the side, tall glass of something cold. Milk, soda, beer.
For me it's a grilled ground steak patty with mustard, a slice of Vidalia onion, a nice thick slice of 5 year old cheddar, a slice of garden fresh beefsteak tomato, dill pickle slices on a grill toasted fresh bun from the local Italian bakery.
kale? Lol.
Smashed burger, onion, pickle, mustard. No need for anything else.
Telling you... it has a better texture than lettuce and the taste pairs well
sounds like you're trying in vain to make a burger healthy.
No, that's genuinely my ideal burger and I don't think I'd add fried onion rings or burger sauce if the goal was to be as healthy as possible. It just so happens the other ingredients are healthy.
