Ever had moonshine/bootleg alcohol? What was it like?

It's taste like premium alcohol in grocery if it's proper made. I had self made whisky, wine brandy, vodka and it was as good or even better than 200USD bottle from the store.
However you shouldn't buy illegally distilled alcohol from people who do it for money or don't have clue what they do, because there is a high risk of methanol contamination of their product.
