What do you think of Germany being told to stock pile food?

Germans have been warned to stockpile as much sausage and cheese as they can in the next few days in preparation for the wurst käse senario.

How does anyone who is in a position to have ANY luxuries not have emergency supplies? in my opinion, if you don't have enough supplies to live for a full week with no services at all (electricity, water, sewer, garbage collection), then you don't have your priorities straight, and probably have never had to rely on government assistance (and it doesn't really matter which government we're talking about).

I had a couple of friends - girls as it happens - who were going to college at UC Northridge when the big earthquake happened there in the 90s. For the first several days, they had no services, and many roads were closed because there were lots of bridges and overpasses that had to be inspected. On the third day, they were given a few bottles of water. The next day, and for the next several weeks, they had to line up with their own containers to get water from the water trucks. They spent several hours every day in line for water, along with everyone else in the area. And waiting in that line was often dangerous, because there were arguments and fights with impatient people standing in the heat or trying to cut in line.

You do NOT want to be at the mercy of government assistance if you can possibly avoid it, because you will be stuck with whatever rules they implement and whatever supplies they offer. If you are smart, you will have planned ahead to take care of yourself and your family without outside help.

Everyone should have at least 3 days of supplies. The US gave formal warning last year I think. I have longterm food, some water, water straws which I highly recommend, go bag, and other supplies along with personal weapons and ammunition for self defense. I call it physical insurance.

We all buy lots of insurance such as car, home, medical insurance the US and travel insurance. Having such supplies is normal but rarely used and paid each year. Having some supplies is paid once and too for 20 plus years.

You should have 3 days of food and water as a minimum. The US reiterated this last year. I have more than that in longterm food which can be bought and last 25 years. It is cheap insurance and you only pay it once as opposed to car, home, and other insurance like travel.

Water is the hard one to prepare for as you need a gallon per person. Your water heater has water, so don’t forget that you can drain that if needed as it can hold 20-50 gallons. Get a Life Straw off of Amazon. And have self defense weapons and ammunition for those that would wish to harm you.

Ah, the classic wurst käse senario! They're just making sure their sausage and cheese stock is auf point—because you never know when a bratwurst emergency might strike.

Worst case scenario, especially in the Swabian dialect can be easily misinterpreted as Wurst-Käse scenario. I think 80% of germans won't understand that joke anyway

Well, last year all of Denmark was told to stock up on water and food to survive three days without heat, electricity, and running water. That's our worst case scenario, three days before help gets to us. I think we'll be okay.
