Be it business trip, vacation, or whatever reason, what do you gravitate towards cuisine wise?
The few times that I vacationed as a kid, my parents were big on eating locally. When we visited a family friend in Pennsylvania, our friend took us to his favorite Philly cheesesteak restaurant and I've been hooked on them ever since! I don't think I ever had one before that trip. When we vacationed in Mexico, my dad wanted to go to a small diner's that the locals recommended. I still laugh, we spent the entire time swatting flies away and my dad's like, "I doesn't get more authentic than this, kids"! 😂 The food was extremely good though! When I moved to WI, I became a fan of perch and blue hill. I guess whatever the area is known for.
I have to start proofreading before I hit send! My spell check is horrible!
Nutrient type is not difficult to control but when I don't cook by myself it's difficult to be sure about quality of ingredients. Generally I avoid cold buffets in hotels or bars and I have always Activated Charcoal and No-Spa tablets for stomach problems in my travel set.
Business trips, I find it harder to eat healthy. When were stuck at remote places they always want to get us donuts and coffee in the morning... sometimes they get lunch and it's something also unhealthy and dinner we're on our own. I try to skip lunch when I'm traveling so I don't over eat.
For dinner it's proteins and vegetables no carbs... just to cut down on anything I might have had earlier in the day.
YES! It's so frustrating how horrible that is and airports are the worst. And a salad for 30 dollars makes me laugh.
Lol. So you bring up a great point. I have gotten food poisoning on a work trip once and it was the salad that got me. How do I know? I was the only fool who ate the salad at dinner lol
I usually take some food from home if it's a business trip (sandwiches, nuts, and stuff like that).
When I go on a vacation, if it's a private accommodation - I prepare food (or my mom does, if she is on vacation with me).
If it's a hotel, I usually eat in the hotel's restaurant.
Sometimes I have to rely on fast foods... but I don't travel a lot, so it's not a problem.
I know a certain person that can survive a week on a stray skittle.
I really wonder who that person is π€
XD
Thanks for the MHO
Whenever I'm away from home, I find myself gravitating towards local cuisine. Tasting the authentic flavors of a region offers an unforgettable experience. From indulging in street food delicacies to savoring crafted dishes in local eateries, each bite unveils a story. I recall a trip to Osaka where I tried takoyaki for the first time, a delightful discovery! Whether it's a bowl of ramen in a cozy Japanese bistro or a freshly made Neapolitan pizza in Naples, these experiences anchor my travels with lasting taste memories. 🍜🍕

Local food, but with ingredients I know and understand. No experiments! 🧐
local... not corporate. whatever looks and sounds good.
if see a line wrapped around building to get in, usually a good sign... not always. was good in London. In thailand, a hole in the wall was excellent not just for food but for meeting the owners and conversations.
On vacation, we want to try out the local food. If we stay for several days in the same spot, we might go back to a restaurant we liked on the last night.
If we travel to my home country, the choice is obvious: trying out meals that remind me of my childhood and early adulthood.
Well I am away from home quite a lot. I try to eat healthy but its tough when eating out. I tend to default to eating lots of pasta dishes and salads. If I eat poorly its time to hit the gym and burn it off.
I still eat the same regardless of where I am. What I usually eat is generally easily available anywhere.
Recently, garbage. Usually, I try to find a healthy takeout place or get stuff from the grocery store. Not fast food or chains like chilis and stuff. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Also a lot of protein shakes to have handy.
I try! I usually do really good with that actually. Finding. a place to stay that has a kitchen and a fridge is important to be able to not eat out for every meal. My last long trip I had a small air bnb house and there was a farm not far away that had great fruits and vegetables. (California in / around a big farm area) fill the fridge with fruits and vegetables and grab some chicken, delicious!
I try to find good non-chaib restaurants. Unfortunately a lot of hotel front desks seem to recommend Applebee's or Chili's so I have to get creative- searching Reddit or finding local "foodie" groups on Facebook.
It depends where Iβm at.
But I wonβt eat local food that is fucken disgusting.
At that point I eat something Iβm familiar with.
Serf and turf. Steak and Lobster.
@Abbycado what about you?
I usually try to eat something that I usually do not cook myself or what is in the college cafeteria.
I will try the local cuisine. But usually stick with the things that I am familiar with.
I like hamburgers or sandwiches in general. nothing with a fork and knife.
Usually would like to try local cuisine. Or just regular fast food
I'm a foodie so anything that tastes good.
I have a question. Message me?
I cannot possibly share what I like to eat most while I'm away
