Kudos on the take OP. It is amazing to me how a part of our lives that is so constant and normal for us is a source of so much whining from men.
All this take is asking for is common consideration for your fellow human beings and some of them can't even manage that much. We step outside ourselves for them all the time. Why can't they do the same for us?

I sat a 3 hour exam with a rib injury before going to A and E which sucked so i can some what empathise. Must be awful for some of you to go through that during work on a regular basis.
@helloitsmethere I was pretty confident for the exam and had had lots packed together so me and some others from my class went to play football in the park and for some reason me and someone else had the brilliant idea to stand on a seesaw that was in the park. They got off rather than thinking it through so I fell and landed on my rib against the seesaw handle bar. I actually still some how got about 80% in that exam.
Ugh, I got a really bad visual of that happening. That sucks. Something similar happened to my co-worker, where she fell and busted 2 of her ribs. And I love doctors who tell you, there is nothing they can do about your ribs other than to just let them heal on their own unless they've punctured something.
They did exactly that they felt my ribs then ran a quick test to check for blood that would mean kidney damage then said nothing was broken and to take pain killers and let it heal. I had quite a lot of bruising there and it hurt a lot to walk but it did eventually heal on it's own.
My girl has horrible periods. She has learned to apologize when she pops off on me for no reason other than pain and I have learned to take care of her when she's hurting or feeling sick. She appreciates it a lot and I feel like a better partner.
Women are designed to be pregnant, biologically that is "normal" state. Menstruation indicates Women are not doing their biological job. And yes "mother" nature is merciless.
P. S. PMS is unknown in like 75% of all female world population.
It's rather odd that period pains start to intensify with amount of work a woman can avoid by staying at home. Also this is bullshit as if men never get hurt or have chronic pain.
I do feel sympathy even though I have no idea what it feels like

I'm glad you do even if you don't know what it feels like. I mean if we replaced the word period with guy with broken leg who lives in a 4 story walk-up, it's no different in how we as human beings should sympathize with someone going through something we aren't currently going through, it's just that a period happens with much more frequency and regularity and its end date can be upwards of 40 years.
I really feel bad for people that go through such pain. I can't relate whatsoever because I've never experienced a painful period in my life. Not even once and not even mild discomfort.
I get pain so bad that I overdose on pills just for it to work. I recently got back on birth control. Hopefully it helps. Overdosing isn't fun and I'm afraid I might get addicted to painkillers one day.
True periods can make a girl cranky, but if there are females in your life acting like "psychopathic murderers" I can assure that's just their personalities in general and her period is just making her too tired to censure herself. I know a lot of females that will snap while on their period (myself included) but we're typically aware when we do and try to make amends, also our behavior is more antisocial/touchy than anything else (picture a wounded animal)
It's not about feeling sorry. It's about the attitude guys have about periods. We're meant to just toughen up and stop complaining. The fact is it's something we deal with all the time without anyone knowing and if we open up about feeling sh*t just once then it's a big deal and we're "cry babies" who should stop whining and feeling sorry? How about you try being ill (which is no where near as bad) for a week every month and don't complain about it once. Then if you so much as mention it then we'll call you a p*ssy and tell you to grow some balls.
Also, if you put it all together, it's more like 12 weeks every year if not more. Which is 3 months a year. Aka 1 quarter of every year.
@SarahD094 once again that's your problem your imposing on others. Fair enough if it's with your husband or boyfriend or whatever that's fine but in a workplace environment I should not be subject to your problems just as you should not be subject to mine.
@Iraqveteran666 There are plenty of girls who carry on just as normal when they are on their period. You are free to take sick days whenever you are ill but periods are a lot more often and can be a lot worse. If you broke your ribs and were in a lot of pain, would you be expected to come into work and carry on as usual? Or would you have time off with no questions asked? I know a girl who has a phobia of blood and she literally passes out and is sick every time her period comes. The fact is, if periods were a "once a year" kind of thing then people would be free to take the sick days with no questions asked. But because it's a regular thing and we have to prove we can be reliable, we have to just deal with it and not make a fuss. Due to the way society works, we can't even talk about it or voice it and ask for help because it's "gross" and something we have to keep to ourselves. We feel shamed for talking about it or displaying weakness due to it.
@SarahD094 good that's the way it should be, nothing to do with it being gross. Think of it this way if you took 3 days off every month that would be 36 days off, then add to that any holidays and any other days you might be sick which an employer is not going to be happy about and your work colleagues will have to pick up the slack for. I'm afraid this is what is called equality.
@Iraqveteran666 I'm not saying we should just get to take loads of time off. You do just have to get carry on and deal with it. But a bit of understanding would be nice and being able to talk about it without society frowning upon that. But those guys that compare it to being kicked in the balls or say things like "oh it must be her time of the month again" every time a girl is annoyed. Well that's just immature and super offensive.
@SarahD094 imposing your personal problems in the workplace is unprofessional. if a woman is being a unprofessional and an aggressive bitch every month really HR needs to have a stern word with her and go through the normal procedures and if she continues with it fire her as anyone else would be. Being kicked in the balls is assault and may result in life long infertility or testicular cancer. In my book assault is serious.
The big deal is that men are so damn rude and then when we point it out you act like we're making it up. Take responsibility for your actions like an adult.

The good thing is there are a lot of good guys that even though they obviously don't experience it, they do show kindness and understanding. I feel that way about anyone going through pain, because there are so many people in this world going through so much, men and women alike, whether it be period pain, or cancer, or injury, etc. that suffer through their days. We should all be more understanding as a whole towards the struggle we do not see and don't experience ourselves because it may be us one day.
I agree! Lol periods for women is no joke at all.. I do have all the sympathy for them

Imagine if I took a power drill and jammed that in your groin for an hour. You've never been kicked in the balls, so don't complain about your measly periods.
I've seen my sister pass out from period pains, so I know they're no joke! I always feel with my friends, when they have their period. It's no fucking joke...

Rib injury? How did that happen?
@helloitsmethere

In extreme cases it can make life VERY difficult: www.webmd.com/.../premenstrual-dysphoric-disorder
Luckier women can have few problems.
My girl has horrible periods. She has learned to apologize when she pops off on me for no reason other than pain and I have learned to take care of her when she's hurting or feeling sick. She appreciates it a lot and I feel like a better partner.

Yes exactly what you said is completely true
some people have trouble realizing though which is bad but I get it
That's really all girls want is for you to understand were in pain and be cool about it haha
@CrystalChild don't worry I'm cool about it lol
I really feel bad for people that go through such pain. I can't relate whatsoever because I've never experienced a painful period in my life. Not even once and not even mild discomfort.

Good take. Got my vote. My girl sometimes has hard periods. I feel sorry for her.
and that's it. It's just having an understanding of someone else's pain as best you can... one that is out of there control.
Give her chocolate and a heating pad every month. She will appreciate it.
(Chocolate has some healing benefits to it)
@helloitsmethere no way im giving her chocolate. She ll bite my entire hand off! Just kidding. She loves chocolate.
Stand near the door and throw chocolate at her until she calms down.
Im that lucky dick who doesn't get cramps :p
I got sympathy cramps once though, off my mum. Damn that hurt like a bitch.
Loll :-)
And your discussion illustrates perfectly why women have no business being in combat roles in the military.
Its still not an excuse to act like a psychopath murderer.
Sometimes I do honestly use my period as an excuse. Other times it's a legitimate excuse.
Hah! I knew it lol
I'm 51 years old and still have a period every month. It only gets worse. I can't wait for menopause
The thing about your period is that it's your problem. If I felt sorry for myself a month out of every year I'd never get anything done.
It's not about feeling sorry. It's about the attitude guys have about periods. We're meant to just toughen up and stop complaining. P sure OP is talking about men's behavior surrounding periods is the problem. That makes it a YOU problem not an US problem.
@BellePepper if your moody and unprofessional 3 days a month in the workplace then you should be fired.
Uh no. We are still talking about YOUR behavior and YOUR lack of consideration towards others.
@BellePepper Just give up lol. I had to give up because the guy was giving me a headache XD
@SarahD094 I have an issue with boys who don't like to take personal responsibility for their actions. So I'm willing to be patient on this one.
@BellePepper you mean behaving professionally In a work environment? Sorry I believe in equal rights not special treatment.
Honey are you reading okay? Because OP has consistently written about MEN'S behavior. I know those pronouns can be tricky for you.
@BellePepper I don't get the big deal, anytime a man has a problem you scoff, honestly your very sexist.
The big deal is that men are so damn rude and then when we point it out you act like we're making it up. Take responsibility for your actions like an adult.
@BellePepper in your opinion rude and to say men a red any ruder than women is sexist.
You know you're at the point where you're not forming coherent sentences right?
@BellePepper yeah I've got the autospell on. Like check this one * vagina-possessing * like I don't even know what that means lol
Were you homeschooled?
@BellePepper for a time yes. But then the schools where I grew up were terrible.
I can tell.
@BellePepper thank you my mother has a teaching degree from queens university in Belfast.
How unfortunate that she didn't apply it to your manners or education.
@BellePepper be nice. We have differing views but that's no reason not to be civil with each other.
This is me being nice by not pointing out specific gaps
@BellePepper you see that is just being rude for the purpose of inflating your ego.
Nah bro. You'll know when I'm being mean :)
@BellePepper but my feelings...
You are such a fibber XD

Imagine if you felt like that for 5 days. I know people who get the "power drill" feeling for 5-7 days
@FallOutBoy2001 You "know people."
There are lots of people in this world. Some are in constant pain due to some sort of chronic nervous disorder.
@FallOutBoy2001 every month
@Emileee lol yes sorry forgot to add that bit
Lol an hour? Try three days then come back to me
I'm one of those people who have a chronic disorder PLUS periods. 'Measly' AHAHAHAHAHAHA please.
I've seen my sister pass out from period pains, so I know they're no joke! I always feel with my friends, when they have their period. It's no fucking joke...
