Why do girs grab their boyfriends hand the second they see me?

I have never had a boyfriend, so maybe thats the reason i dont get this. I have experienced, several times, that girls grab their boyfriends hands the second she sees me. Wtf is the deal with that? Do the girl think i will run over and grab him or something? Girls with boyfriend, or any girl, why do you/them do that? I dont get it :S

You mentioned in the comments you think you're "just average." Guaranteed, if you stop thinking of yourself as average, go buy the prettiest clothing you can and really take some pride and dress/makeup/whatever to kill, you could go from looking threatening to actually stealing boyfriends (of course, the guy actually has a choice to be loyal, but that aside...).

Drink it in and realize how hot you must be. I'm not saying steal some girl's boyfriend. But you should allow yourself to enjoy what you've got.

They don't consciously think to themselves "Wow, that girl is pretty; any second she could come steal my man even though I'm right next to him." They still feel a little weird like that even if it makes no sense, so I imagine that they do it to reassure themselves.

This has happened to me too sorry not be cocky but most of the time I look better than the girl who does it and you probably do to so yea ig they get a bit insecure like every girl does when they see a girl prettier than them and want you to know oh this is mine or they saw their bf looking at you and didn't like it I don't know I've never had a bf either

im really not that good looking, im attractive, but i still consider myself average. So i doubt it is because im "prettier" And i'm quite insecure, but if i had a boyfriend i wouldn't so obviously show that by grabbing my boyfriend hand or anything the second i see a pretty girl

So just because i happen to walk past them i suddenly a threat? Its so weird walking down the street and the a girl and a guy walks together and could be really anything (a couples, friends, siblings) and then out of the blue the girls grab the guys hand and looks at me... its not like her boyfriend is going to change his mind and run away with me when he sees me and i'm not going to throw myself over him when i see him either
