You tried to describe love as women want particular things from men... yes that is generally what causes all people of all genders to fall for one another. Everyone approaches love based off of a desire to be with them and that bond is strengthened by one's willingness to court and nurture their partner. Women very much so like men because if we didn't, there would be so many other avenues we could take to not even need romantic relationships with them: vibrators and artificial insemination for example. Technically, no woman "needs" a man, she chooses to be with one, the same way a man does.

I have the distinct feeling this is less about women and more about interpersonal issues.
