What does it mean if a girl knows you like her but doesn't tell me how she feels?

I've known this girl mutually in her early 20's for about a year now (im 19), and we've only been talking for the past month.

over a period of like 3 weeks we hungout every so often. Whenever we are together one on one or in a group she shows a lot of interest with eye contact and body language. and she doesn't friendzone me AT ALL. This is why I was making plans to tell her how i felt, until one of her friends came out of the blue one day and told me "she only sees me as a friend."

i dont want to believe her but at the same time i feel like i should. that is her best friend after all. im really still begging the question because the concern isn't dead yet. the girl i like hasn't told me directly how she feels, so im kinda waiting for that. but it seems like she is waiting for something or just too scared to reject me? what should I do?

I've never been in a relationship before so any help would make me understand much better on what to do. Thank u
