There's a difference between being sexually objectified (which some are fine with, yes) and being "seen as attractive." Humans want to be liked. Men want to be liked too. In being liked, there is acceptance, and in acceptance there is safety. Some people say "I don't care what others think of me" but that is on a sliding scale, and it is both true and simultaneously also untrue.
Being catcalled means that the guy sees that woman's value as sexual. He might also believe there is more to her, but in that moment, all the woman knows is that he likes/wants/appreciates her sexually. And if that is what she/they hear, and no other comments about other value they might possess, it feels like an object. And that makes the man primal, closer to animalistic. And that means he may physically overpower her and take what he wants, and use her for what he wants, and she is physically vulnerable to that because of her smaller stature. And then she doesn't feel safe. Even though she is seen as attractive. So instead of being seen as attractive being a benefit, it becomes a detriment, maybe even in rare cases, a danger.
A compliment about one's looks or style or choices of what they wear is not harassment. A compliment about character or personality is respectful and appreciation. A catcall is objectification.
Now do you understand?
Women want to be desired, sure. We even like it when heads turn our way. But we don't want to be treated as 'things'. We have feelings and we have brains. If our looks attract you, fantastic. But we're not animals and don't want to be treated as a playthings for your amusement between you and your buddies.
You're mistaking admiration with objectification, and mistaking compliments with catcalling.
Women want to be admired, but doesn't want to be objectified. That's the difference.
Women want to get compliments, but doesn't want to be catcalled. That's the difference.
And there is huge difference between those.
Some women likes to be catcalled and objectified, but that doesn't mean every woman likes to be catcalled and objectified, know the difference.

You'll find that a large chunk of modern activism is steeped in ignorance and hypocrisy. A lot of people simply want to complain and be victimized by virtually anything because frankly, (western) society glamorizes the idea of being a victim, and there's more push to label yourself as a victim than to actually fix any real issues.

No, they don't like being objectified, women are human too, not objects, piece of meat. Of course women want to feel attractive, desired and loved by men. Catcalling can be intimidating to girls, plus it's disrespectful.
Men should show some respect to women, and not treating them as objects and using them for sex.
Men... I swear. I think there is some truth to both sides here. Some women love being called out for their nice curvatures and some dont and some go way overboard with taking offense to it but probably because she gets this attention way too often and from her perspective it really seems like every man against her. The whole catcalling just isn't a me thing. I think its safe you are acting completely respectable but if you're talking like you're the oldest hotdog around it is an ass hole look.
this is often a little complicated for guys to understand, so i'll try to explain it all.
so i mean it can seem like we lovee being objectified and everything on the surface level, and that's kinda "true" in a way but not exactly. like we don't like being harassed (by harassed i don't mean polite compliments to slightly cheeky but nice in the street most of the time really, except if when we have low self esteem
If someone wants to be seen as sexy/attractive and complimented by people they know that's one thing. But it's quite different if it's someone they don't know (it can be intimidating). Also, lesbians want other women to find them attractive, not men.
I don't mind cat calling because it makes my self confidence feel justified call me weird ladies but i do actually enjoy the idea of people looking at me and whistling
