My best friend has become very shy around me lately, your opinion would be greatly appreciated?

So lately my best(girl) friend has become very shy around me, I can't seem to get her to talk to me about anything without asking a million questions. She told me a few days ago that its because she likes me that she's so nervous. Right now she's dating a guy that doesn't seem to care about her at all; he hasn't gone to any of her softball games, he doesn't talk to her about anything, and he is constantly blowing her off for his friends. she's brought up us dating (I told her that I like her before) if she breaks up with her boyfriend. She seems to really love her boyfriend though and I don't want her to just settle for me. I know there's not a question in here, I just want your opinion on what's going on. Thanks for your time.

So, I used to be in the same situation, just switched roles. What I did was talk to them, and explained why I thought we should be together and whatnot. It took a couple weeks for him to process it, but he then dumped him girlfriend for me. We ended up being together for awhile, and things went extra well because we already had a really tight friendship. I suggest telling he exactly how you feel, and if you want to be with her, try explaining gently why you feel you would be better for her than the other guy
