Why do some women shame other women for being virgins?

I am in my early 20s and still a virgin. I want to have sex, but I don’t just want to get it over with. I want to do it with someone I can at least trust. Two of my friends are also virgins for the same reason. Anyways, most of the time guys react surprised but don’t really care all that much. Women on the other hand do. Don’t get me wrong I don’t get out and about telling everyone I am a virgin.
My friends and I have both experienced “virginshaming” (is that what it is called?) by women, never by men.
Can someone please explain to me why that is? Why are other women offended because I am still a virgin?

I had something similar happen in my late teens and early 20's. In this case, it was a couple of friends who had lost their virginities to one night stands or guys who unfortunately used them for sex and then ditched them. Before this, there was no pressure, but then they started heavily pressuring me to have sex as well, saying it would be a bad thing if I was still a virgin past a certain age. I think they may have not been entirely satisfied with their choices and wanted me to do the same so they'd feel less "alone" about it, if that makes sense.

Also, some women are extremely competitive and will knock anything about another woman that they feel might be competition to them. Some people also get bitter about certain decisions they regret and take it out on those who have made the decisions they wish they would have.

I would pay them no mind though. First of all, your sex life is nobody's business but yours, and secondly, their lives must be pretty vapid and uninteresting if YOUR virginity is a issue with them. To be honest, caring about whether someone else is a virgin or not is so high school.

As women we shouldn’t be shaming each other either way. A non-virgin woman shouldn’t shame another woman because she is a virgin. Same goes with a women who is a virgin shouldn’t be shaming another woman for how many people she’s had sex with. Everyone has a right to the decision of what they choose to do with their body and shouldn’t be shamed for it.

Jealousness! I wish I could have waited. One problem you run into is there fewer than ever people who will really love you. The original reasons men and women formed unions are mostly gone, cavebears, starvation, needing to raise children. Hostile tribes still exist of course. Public school is doing a terrible job and many adults could do their job in half the time if they would work harder and smarter. Finding a man who wants to rebel against the stupidity of our country would be a good start to finding a man you could trust.

I don’t know which country you are talking about, but something tells me it is the US, am I right? Anyways the things you name like the public schools and the way people work are not big issues in my country, as far as I know. I thankfully do not have to deal with those issues.

I absolutely have no idea about this virgin shaming. It doesn't make any sense. Especially when it's a time where women say "your body your choice", I guess it must include virginity too then. There's absolutely nothing shameful about being virgin as much as there's absolutely nothing to be so proud in losing it. Ignore what those people say.

I know what you mean. I'm 28 and I'm also a virgin. I do want to be with someone I trust and I've been shamed for being a virgin.
I guess they do that because they assume virgin girls are prudes. They consider themselves better because they already had sex.

I thought it was the other way around. Women shamed women for sleeping around and being sluts.
Most women don't do it anymore but keeping it within marriage seems the best and safest route. No judgement for sleeping around, no risk of unwanted pregnancy, risk of disease goes way down, commitment and stability, the guy isn't going to just ghost you and disappear overnight, it is widely considered the healthiest most stable way to satisfy the sexual side.

The opposite is also true, although I personally would never shame someone else. I don’t care how much sex someone else is having. But yeah there are definitely women (virgin and non-virgin) who shame other women and calling them ‘sluts’.

I guess women are becoming more like men in that regard. Among men the idea nowadays is if you are not having sex it isn't because you don't want to, or have some religious prohibition against it, it is because you aren't able to attract women. I guess some women are coming to believe the same about people of their own gender.

Dunno but you should stop talking to any strangers about it. It's none of their business and you open yourself up to being attacked or, some guys even go out of their way to bed a virgin for sport.

That is the thing I don’t talk about it with strangers. In my country we are very open about sex. So you talk about it amongst classmates, friends etc.

Then, fight fire with fire. If they try to virgin shame you, slut shame them. Don't hold back. See how they like it. I bet they shut up.
