Why does this happen?

We are in the middle of a convo. She's sending emojis, asking me questions, laughing at my jokes etc. and then she suddenly goes offline. It's happened a few times now and it's extremely frustrating.
I asked her out last week, but she said she was busy preparing for an exam and with her hobby. I respected the honesty and replied with "Alright, good luck with the exam and hit me up when you are done with it" to which she gave the thumbs up reaction and replied "thank youuuuu" finishing with that blushy smiling face.
Guess what, she didn't text me after the exam, so I asked her how it had gone and we went on to joke about and laugh, but suddenly she went offline. No words from her, hasn't even seen the last message. She's been putting the effort into the convo, it's not one of those "mhm" "yeah". I was about to ask her what she was up to for this weekend had she replied to my message.
I will ask her anyway, but if I get excuses without her trying to open up on when she'll be frew I will be too heartbroken to bother ever chatting her up again.
I sense that I could be irrational about the whole thing, but nevertheless I'd like to hear what you all think of the situation and maybe an input on how I could rationalise it.

She’s just not into you, dude, and I think that is something you should accept rather than further frustrate yourself by chasing and chasing. Like whenever you have these conversations, and she repeatedly just checks out, why create this air of confusion in your own mind, as to “why” she’s doing it? It’s because she’s not interested in continuing the talk. She didn’t text you after her exam because she didn’t want to. She keeps making excuses about why she can’t hang out, because she doesn’t want to go. What I see here is a girl that doesn’t want confrontation, and may be too nice, so she thinks that saying no would be her being mean. So she keeps leaving you on read, dodging your requests to hang out, etc etc because she is hoping you will just get the hint. Don’t get me wrong, she is being messy and flat out childish bc she doesn’t want to be upfront. That behavior is not ok. But even with her wrongness aside, I feel like the disinterest is clearly there. You just have to accept it and stop treating the situation like she’s playing hard to get, or she’s confused or any other excuse you create in your mind bc you want her so much. It’s time to face reality and let her go. Find a woman who actually reciprocates your feelings. Sure you will be hurt, but at least you won’t be chasing false hope and embarrassing yourself anymore.

I also want to address the other element of confusion you seem to be having regarding how she interacts in conversation. You didn’t fall for a cold hearted bitch, and I am sure she has some sort of kind, bubbly personality that drew you to her. Do you truly believe a person like that would have the nerve to be rude with short “mhmm, yeah” answers? No. She has nothing against you dude and does not mind talking, but if she were interested she wouldn’t keep checking out of the talk. She would initiate conversations, she would try and schedule dates, or when you ask her and she can’t go, she’d follow up with an effort to find a solution. Like “no I can’t hang out this weekend but what’re you doing on this or that day?”. THAT is interest. Or when she leaves you on read, coming back with “I’m sorry I just got busy, how’s your day been?” Or “sorry I didn’t get a chance to text you after exams, they went well,” etc etc, that is interest and I think you know that dude.

Looks to me as if she is slowly drifting away from you. That reaction is indicative that she is trying to cut the ties and that she may want to sever your "relation".

Best is to make sure of that fact. The only way to do it correctly is to meet her in person and ask her face to face where you stand. I have never been a fan of texting such things because it only shows cowardice and lack of respect for the other.

If one wants to end a relation, then it should be done properly and not just by texting it. Talk to her and get the information out of her. She may deny it but facial expressions and body language don't betray as a text would do.

I messaged her about meeting up, but she brought up excuses such as ''I am busy with exams''. To that I did the mature thing and wished her good luck with them, adding that she should message me when she's free. She didn't. She doesn't look like she's getting uninterested when we interact, but she never starts the conversation. She's never done so. But whenever I message her she's all lively and stuff until out of nowhere she does that thing.

How long does she actually go off-line for? I hate that kind of stuff it’s disrespectful they could at least say goodbye for now or tell you the truth on what they’re doing

7pm is the last message she sends, I reply her 2 minutes after it and she goes offline without even seeing it and replying to it until 10am the next day.
