Girls, I think I offended a girl I'm interested in. What should I do?

I started my freshman year in college a couple weeks ago and I started talking to this girl, we'll call her Amy. Amy and I have been talking over text every day, getting to know one another, and we've gone out to lunch every other day. It's been going really well and I really like talking to her.

Amy is a nerd and has been telling me about this fair she wants to go to for her birthday. I'm a sporty guy so my interests don't necessarily match. She's not very good at understanding jokes so I joked that she should invite me anyway and then she actually did. I told Amy it wasn't really my thing and it looked like I upset her so I offered to go with her. She told me it wouldn't make any sense as we had just met a short while ago and that I wasn't interested in a bothered way and kept talking to me like that. Looking back, what I said was patronizing so I apologized to Amy and she told me that she appreciated the maturity. I kept it going and told her that I liked talking to her and she's left me on read ever since.

I'm worried that I disrespected her interests and I feel terrible about what I said. What do you think I should do? Am I overreacting to the situation?

You offended her and insulted her. What is done is done and cannot be undone. While you did the right thing apologizing to her for your comment, that does not mean that what you did is forgotten.

Your best (and only) option is to wait till she contacts you again and hope that you learned your lesson. Not everyone likes jokes, mainly if she thought you were serious about you going with her to the show. It is something that is important to her just like sports is important to you.

She thought that you would understand her liking but with your joke, you mocked her interest.

If she contacts you again, then she has forgiven you. If she does not, then move on and learn from your mistakes.

Yeah, that was a bad thing to do ngl. If you really like someone, you should care about their interests and hobbies, even if it's not something you like. You don't have to be into it, but taking an interest in it (like talking about it and stuff) would be nice. It's something they enjoy and like after all.

The good thing is that you know that you messed up and apologized for it. I'd say give her some time, you hurt her. Let her process feelings and think about the whole situation. You apologized, so there is nothing else you can do. If she wants to continue talking to you, she'll come back.

What if u take her out for 2nd time.. watch cinema what she like or maybe have lunch together.. wait til her mood is good and u tell her that u didn't mean to hurt her and asked for second chance

You apologized. Not much you can do now if she chooses to move on. There is svery chance she has moved on and the misunderstanding you two had has soured things on her end.
