Girls, what is your most embarassing period story? (Guys, please look away!!)?

As I returned from my kids conferences tonight and realized I was bleeding to death without realizing it, I reflected on other times this happened.

In 1994 I got my first period. I was 11. But I did not realize it was my first period at the time. I was a summer daycare. I was a CHILD. We were on a horseback riding field trip. My back had been bothering me all day. I went to the restroom and my white undies were covered in brown muck. I was certain I had accidentally s*it my pants. No one told me period blood could be brown and your back could hurt rather than your stomach.

Anyways, fast forward to the school year. I was in 6th grade and my mother failed to tell me the difference between a pantyliner and a pad. BIG difference it turns out and I learned the hard way. Bled through my yellow Jordache shorts during class and had to tie my flannel around my waist. I nearly died of embarrassment. You?

6th grade English, I was wearing a cute pink blouse and denim skirt, and I felt awful all day, I had no idea what was wrong, but I had light cramping, I felt tired a bit headachey but with the benefit of hindsight, that’s all pretty normal for me to this day. But earlier that day, b/c I felt so crappy I didn’t dress out for PE which would set in motion the events which lead to me thinking “either I just got my period, or I’m definitely dying!’

As I climbed the bleachers to sit in quiet shame and read, I slipped! I mean my legs went right out from under me b/c I wasn’t wearing my sneakers, but rather my flats w/ a leather sole… cute shoes, but I slipped and landed right on the edge of a bleacher, lady bits first! OMG the pain was so intense. Two periods later (no pun intended) I was in English, and all of a sudden, I became very aware of something wet! I immediately asked to use the restroom, and off I went. Obviously I saw the blood, but as well as my mom had prepared me, she did not take into account a direct impact to my vulva just a hundred minutes earlier, and I honestly thought it’s either my period, or I’m DYING!

I didn’t want to pull my panties back up but I definitely couldn’t NOT wear them, so I pulled them kinda up. (Again, thank god for skirts!) I went to the office and I must have had a look they were familiar with, b/c when she said “hello dear” she already sounded compassionate. “I don’t know, I think I need a thing” was all my terrified brain could muster. She went and got some pads, aware my mom was a doctor, she asked “your mom already showed you how to use these?” At this point words failed me and I just shook my head no “not SHOWED!” Mrs Cresswell took me to the staff bathroom, and fashioned a makeshift gusset from a paper towel and demonstrated how to use the pad (just as my mom HAD, but my brain froze and I forgot everything) she waited outside, until I emerged, & gave me a hug!

Thank you SO much, I know it doesn’t sound THAT embarrassing, but at the time I definitely was to me. Also I did have a nasty bruise for a couple of weeks, but nothing “terminal”, thank god! It does surprise me how shocking the first time can be, despite all the education our mothers and our schools try to give us.

My most embarrassing period was not during childhood.

it was in school , I was attending some function at my sons school, a theater show,

my son was performing in show too.

One embarrassing is definitely when I was 11 and my period was inconsistent but was there. I went on a summer boat trip with my friends and I remember going over one of their family’s houses to visit. We were playing games outside and I sat down cross cross apple sauce. I was wearing clothes and I wasn’t aware I was bleeding. It seeped through my clothes and my friends younger brother asked why there was blood in that area.

No embarrassing period stories. I guess I have too many embarrassing stories about peeing my pants. As I had bladder control problems until I was 16.
