Why do women ask this?

A lot of women have been repeatedly asked if i have a girlfriend or when will i get one.

But if i ask them out, they all say no without exception.

So why ask about it?

I dont understand the interest..

Curiosity? Doesn't mean they necessarily mean they're interested but just wanting to strike up a conversation I guess. People ask me if I'm married and I tell them yes, they ask out of curiosity cause they see my ring and might of missed it before hand.

To see if you were "safe" or were going to hit on them. If you were taken, you'd be more likely to just be a friend.

Or, they have a single friend in mind.

Societal expectations. People naturally assume everyone either has a partner or is actively looking for one.
I legit stopped hanging out with the people who kept pestering me with that question.

I guess from THEIR perspective. They either all pity you, or are rooting for you lol or both

I would personally avoid them or thank them and just carry on with your life/ hobby/ and search as a bachelor
