Girls, Is it ok for a guy to ask a female colleague for her social media if you’ve known her a while?

I don’t know I feel odd asking for a girls social media at work. There’s one girl at work who usually smiles and says hi to me. But I don’t want to mistake those gestures for her just being friendly. I do genuinely care about her. I know at some point I will leave the company and work somewhere else related to my studies in university. I know she’ll leave at some point maybe before me, not sure. I would like to keep in touch with her. But people I work with who decided to leave never cared about staying in touch.

I mean I feel like I have a good rapport with one girl at work. I asked another girl who I also have a good rapport with and she’s quitting but when I asked her do you use social, her response was yea what’s your social. I gave it to her but it’s not like she added me or messaged me online. Maybe she got busy, maybe she will hit me up in the future I don’t know. But I just don’t know if people are being friendly at work because it’s work and once they leave they won’t care about keeping in touch with others.

In most situations, at least in my work experience... People aren't going to work to make friends, they go to make money and earn a living. It's quite possible they're just being nice because it's a work setting, if it were just on the street it would likely be a bit different.

I don't mean to burst your bubble though, you may find someone who's interested in exchanging social media. :)

Well the one girl I know at work who’s not leaving, she always smiles and says hi first. But I don’t know if she’s just being nice. It’s tough reading and understanding females. I think guys are easier to understand in my opinion.

I am a different girl when I am at work. I smile and say hi to everybody. I have never been asked for my SM info at work, but I am sure I would be okay with it. Nothing on my FB is anything insane.
