Guys, Guys - how can a girl tell if your just being polite or you have genuine interest?

so what are some signs that a guy is just being polite by talking to you or if he is genuinely interested?

I took a leap and DM’d a guy I fancied who I thought might be interested too as he kept liking all my stuff… he talked back to me and asked me questions but something felt ‘off’ like he was only chatting out of politeness as maybe he didn’t wanna hurt my feelings? But then am I wrong and actually the fact he was talking back and asking me stuff is a good sign? How do you guys act over messages when you do/don’t like someone?

Its impossible to known until you meet in person. Since you took the lead in DM'ing I would ask him he would like to go out sometime. then I would just take it from there, like any other guy would.

I ask her out, if she says yes then I assume she is interested on some level. if it leads to a 2nd or 3rd date then you just take it from there and see where it goes. But if I message someone and she reply's and keeps relying then I would assume she is intrest.

If more than 24 hours goes by without her messaging me back, then I start to assume that she isn't more than mildly interested at best. More than 48 hours, then I assume she is just being nice if she ever reply's.

It's hard to know how anyone feels over text, whether they want to talk or are just being polite.

I like to take a direct approach with someone, less time wasted. You could ask him if he wanted to go out for coffee or some activity some day , maybe use the word date and that'll get your point across
