How do I ask how he feels? Worth it?

I have had a crush on someone I work with for around a year. Initially, I was unsure how I felt so I tried to not dwell on my feelings, but as my feelings have grown, my interest is getting to know this person has expanded. However, I recently was told that they do not date in the work place with the exception being "if the person moved locations" which I want to respect. I am now not sure if telling them how I feel is worth it. I would be willing to move locations but I believe I'd need to get to know them better out of work to determine if this kind of move would be worth it as I enjoy my job at the current location beyond their presence at work, yet it seems like they don't entertain interests at work to begin with?
