Girls, why doesn’t my girlfriend ever initiate physical contact?

We’re in middle school and we’ve been together for about a year and a half. Without me saying anything one time she said “I have to be really close to a person to physically touch.” I could understand what she meant. Fast forward a few months later she has about six ‘guy friends’ not including me and hugs them on a regular basis (not just greeting and goodbye. Sometimes just randomly too.) Does she want to break up or is this normal?

Apparently, you are not close enough to her for her to feel comfortable touching you. Are you sure that this is not really a one-side crush and that she does not reciprocate your crush?

It could also be that she does not want to show to others that she has a boyfriend and deliberately keeps her distance with you so as not to awake suspicion.

Your best option is really to ask her why she seems to be shy to initiate physical contact with you while she does not have any inhibition doing it with others.

Dude, you're in middle school... I know you guys are doing stuff, I did stuff, but you guys are still figuring out stuff... hey, I'm 34 and I'm still learning new ways to do stuff! So, just chill and enjoy the ride, it's about the journey, because we are all going to the same destination.

She's probably nervous to do anything with you. Which is perfectly normal for your age. You're doing great respecting her boundaries! If you're worried about her not being into you anymore then I recommend talking to her about it, even if it's just over text, communication is key for healthy relationships. If she isn't then don't worry about it! You've learned valuable information to carry on to a new relationship.

I think this is normal. I have some trust issues when it comes to dating. Maybe she is afraid of you taking advantage of her. I might ask her in a very nice way. I would say "Hey I realized you let blank hug you how come you won't let me?" Also, a lot of girls don't like other people seeing them do pda in public. Maybe when it's just you and her and nobody else is around just hug her.
