What does my crush’s behavior mean?

So I was hanging out with this girl I happen to have a crush on and very overtly tried to flirt with her. A lot of her responses seemed kind of dismissive and sarcastic. Like, I called her pretty and her response was “thanks I know”. I scewed the conversation to be about how she felt about relationships and she said she’s dated a lot of people and wanted to remain single. However, she was also getting really personal with me and asking about where I saw myself in the future? The hang out didn’t end with her being uncomfortable or anything, in fact she smiled and told me I’d see her soon.

I’ve never dated before in my life and I don’t know what happened. We’re pretty close friends but I made it pretty clear that I was flirting with her. I don’t understand why she would be so eager about hanging out and seeing me more if my attempts to flirt didn’t land. I don't know if I’m reading into it but if my friend started to flirt with me and I wasn’t into them I’d probably distance myself from them for a while.

I’m not sure if I made progress or if I should just forget about her? She said she wanted to remain single so I’m just going to respect that and not try anything else, but I can’t help but feel there’s something behind her wanting to spend more time with me. I don't know.
