Why do women try to "find themselves"?

Serious question. I know that men can be the same way, but I notice it seems to be more of a thing with women. Even my sister was like this. It also seems to be that women look for meanings in things like astrology and stones that would in some way teach them about their personality, life path, or others' personality.

Why are women fascinated with trying to know who they are so deeply?

Great question that has a complicated answer. To understand this you need to understand two facts.

1. Women don't take accountability

2. Men approach women.

"Find myself" many times is simply a way for them to justify poor decisions, instead of simply admitting they made a mistake they will use terms like this to justify their bad decisions. The second part is more important in my opinion. Since men primarily approach women, women have the luxury of waiting, being patient and focusing on unconventional solution. Think about it like this, if you saw a women you liked, as an intro it would be extremely strange for you to walk up to her and start talking about how you're finding yourself, in fact the fact that you are walking up to her proves that you have already found yourself. It would be creepy to start the conversation discussing astrological signs. However when you're on the receiving end, you have the luxury of providing these types of responses.

Q: Why are you single

A: I'm still finding myself

Translation: I want to see what other dick is out there

Q: What type of man are you looking for

A: Someone that shares my needs what's your sign

Translation: Are you wealthy or hot?

Their brain chemistry and neural patterns are generally different than ours. They have more “holistic” thinking over things.

There are some things I don’t mind when it comes to this kind of thinking. Sometimes as men we get too caught up in the grind and day to day. We do not stop to look at the bigger picture on things.

However there are some aspects that don’t like at all about this type of thinking either. It can make people wishy washy or make irrational decisions based on “feelings”. This is especially dangerous when women (and some men) have been negatively influenced by an ideology. It can harm people around them and themselves.

However women are biologically prone to think more this.

I wouldn't call IT fascination. In my case it's just about trying to understand how I as a person function in regards to some norms or just a way to try to give yourself more confidence. The fact that the future in unknown is terrifying, so I search for other means that can help me predict IT and make me feel safe. Even if logically speaking IT does not make sense.

Because from the moment we are born, we are told who we "should" be, how we should look, how we should act, how we should dress, our worth, or role in society, or expectations... when do you ever get to figure out who you are without the noise unless you take some time to learn how to tune out the noise?

not that i have anything against those things they are fun as hobbies but if you need a planet's position to tell you who you are it is kind of sad, you should ask that question to yourself not to a stone or planet, or your birth date.

It's usually women who are in relationships, or in uncertain positions feeling lost, and not knowing how to feel, or what to do.. I don't think it's especially deep because it's mostly something younger people say.. It's basically just a way for women to say "I want to be alone for a while, and just think about myself and my future"..

If I had to GUESS? I'd say it's because men are built for work. And women are built for?

And I don't say this as an insult. I say this because men still make up 65.5% of the workforce. So the women that do not want to be traditional wives, and do not want to enter the workforce either have to do SOMETHING with their time. So with all that extra time on your hand you're probably able to go on a voyage of self discovery.

Finding yourself is probably the most important part of your life. Without figuring that out you don't know who you are. I think women might just be more self aware and realize the importance of it compared to men.

True. I was briefly I that phase as a teenager too, but something about it made me exhausted, so I guess I learned not to think too hard and just go with the flow of life. That has turned out to teach me way more about who I am than actively going on a journey to find me.
