Is buying something for someone without asking them a sign of lack of boundaries?

I bought a plane ticket for a girl because she wanted to visit her family but she did not give a firm answer. So after the call I figured I would be nice and buy her a ticket. So I did buy a ticket for her but did not tell her. However thinking back in it I did not consult her on time or day or anything. But the fact that if she wanted to go was another thing... So maybe now she feels obligated to take it? In the end I did apologize for my actions, behavior for overstepping my boundaries. I thought it was a good idea but in the end I don't think it was...
