Because "alt" and "norm" are changing. Wearing a nice long dress and long undyed hair and natural looking makeup is no longer the norm. That's an alternative style now. And dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings are no longer such a small category of alternative. Its pretty much normal now, at least in small quantities.

That doesn't mean everybody does it, but it does mean that most people who want to can now without fear of being judged by friends or fired from their job for it.

Well literally every woman now a days isn't like that there are those that aren't. But there are a fair number of them sadly. And that just has to do with a combination of them being gullible and easy to fool along with them being conditioned over time to think a certain way.
