What ever happened to young women being ladylike? A message to young women.

to be quite truthful, there is nothing more frustrating than analyzing society and its trends. something that makes no sense to me is attractive young women always getting caught up with the wrong crowd and boyfriend. also how attractive young women that feel that they need to act b*tchy or slutty to attract equally douchey or trashy guys (because I guess they're "attractive" and are more fun to be around). or just attractive girls that smoke to try drugs or drink a lot.

now I'm not saying that they shouldn't be less likely to smoke or do drugs or whatever, over a not as good looking girl, because nobody should use and abuse substances, but seriously if you've been given beauty, why are you dumbing yourself down, you know? why are you doing what a ton of other young adults do? why are you molding to the trends? do what deep down you feel is right, defy our young cultural norms. think, use your brain, and stand up for what you believe in!

i don't understand why a lot of attractive girls anymore are as starved for attention as they are. a lot of them are not dumb, they're smart, they're beautiful, and would be liked for who they were whether they tried to be hip and trendy or not. seriously just be yourself and act like a lady! I'm all for women's rights and equality and everything, but stop trying to be the equivalent of a guy that is a douchebag. you don't need to smoke, drink, and party to be cool. be a woman. and live it, breathe it, because you deserve better than trashy, fake boyfriends, friends, and well, that whole lifestyle.

i'm just sick of stuck up girls that have seemed to have been brainwashed by society and can't even recognize a good friend and a good man when they're right in front of them. and seeing girls practically ruining their lives or making stupid choices that by the time they reach the age of 25, they'll end up regretting.

Usually a sweeping generalization of a type of people is BS but it's sad that this generalisation sums up majority of Gen Y women.

I'm so sick of these girl who dress like hookers then get angry and upset that they attract awful men that treat them like hookers...well what the hell did they expect!?!?!?!?!

I genuinely weep for young women today that offer up sex as collateral for buying them dinner, for those who wear shirts as a dress, for those who flunk out of high school only to have a bunch of babies hoping the guy will stick around and love her because of it.

This world is in big big trouble if the women don't wake up and shape up. Think about it, these women are the mothers of the next generation what possible values could they instill?

i agree, and young women that have babies while they're in college aren't much smarter either. chances are their thug boyfriend won't seem so great to them in a few years, and suddenly you have a 3 year old boppin' around, and having to deal with divorced parents for their entire youth, then the cycle repeats again.

i wish people were smarter. lol. there a lot of great, but lonely guys out there too, that would make great husbands and fathers and its like we just get sloppy seconds :(

Amen. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be a young woman because of the fact that most of them don't have any self respect. However, I am proud to say that I have never smoked, I have never drank, I am still a virgin, and I always have respect for myself. And sadly, most guys don't even go for girls like me because we are "too good" but hey, I like to have fun just like everyone else. Just not in the same way as others. It's just sad how most young women in society are viewed now a days.

that's how I feel. "too good" for most girls, or "too boring" or just, not attractive enough, and I know I'm at least fairly attractive minus all the superficial things that girls look for in a guy.

because the only men who approach naturally beautiful women tend to be arrogant jerks. nice, smart, decently attractive guys never or very rarely approach. hence the girl feels that is all she deserves, and she starts to act that way, to match what she thinks she deserves.

i genuinely believe that you attract and accept people on the same level as you. if a girl is with a guy with issues, chances are, she has some too, whether she wants to admit it or not. they might not be the same issues but they're there in some form, for example trying to change a guy, assuming you have "the goods" to do it = ego problem. anyways, its not a matter of someone being a good person, there are a lot of great people out there, but its a matter of being able to take what you deserve.

But I'm personally surrounded by a community of people who fall into the type you describe to some degree. And as much as I agree with what you said before, a lot of us have heard the spiel before and we don't need a general, over the counter speech, fixing people is so much more personal and intimate than I think you realize..

Im one of the most lady like people I know, but on the other side I can be one of the guys, my boyfried calls me the perfect girlfriend, I can cook, clean, raise babys and talk like a guy, act like a guy and get what a guy is talking about or thinking. it really is true though. there are tons of pretty girls out there, that I would not even think about dating because of how they live their lives. its so unattractive. turns me right off, where as if they were just more reserved and modest and ladylike, who knows? I might actually have had felt something for them. if girls are attracting the wrong guy and blowing off the good ones, it truthfully starts with the girl herself.

Exactly! I see it in a large number of girls I'm around :-/ I just want to grab them by the face and say, "HONEY, you are precious! why are you disrespecting yourself like this?!" :'( our society is def. declining at an alarming rate. I'm a Christian and I've even seen this in the Church a lot lately? *shaking my head* I think girls and guys are all mixed up these days. Really sad.

same, I'm a Christian too, and I agree. I think a lot of hot girls anymore just feel that because they're hot, they're completely perfect as is, and so many times, they couldn't be more wrong. over inflated egos and such, and that's just one big issue they could have.
