"The shy guy excuse". Are girls using it to describe uniterested guys?

There are so many 'shy guy' questions here on GAG that it made me think if all the mentioned 'shy guys' are really shy, or could the girls just be using shyness as an excuse when a guy is uniterested?

A shy guy to me is someone who gets all red in the face around a girl, starts stuttering, avoids eye contact at all times, not comfortable around people he doesn't know..

What do you guys think?

this might be a bit late but I just came across this as I was trying to post a similar question (involving only the word shy. go figure).

I think that some girls/women really DO tend to use the "shy guy excuse" when they should acknowledge the "he's just not that into you"-truth. now I must admit that some passages in the book are just really wrong, as in wrooooooong. but the amount of shy guys the girls on here sometimes fling at you is ridiculous. even my 24 (!) year old sister STILL thinks that a guy can be so shy that he won't grasp the opportunity of even a Facebook friend-request when she initiates it. at some point you just have to be able to say "ok, so he's not interested in me. I don't need an excuse I will just move on".

kinda get the feeling I'm rambling...sorry. so anyways, YES. girls are using it too much if you ask me. it's denial and being afraid of getting hurt. and being blind because of infatuation. I wish girls would stop that and start looking for a better guy for them :(

2. What do you guys think? Considering how many guys post questions on here about how to talk to a girl, b*tch/whine about girls not giving shy guys a chance, and how many guys are introverts it's unlikely to be some ego sparing excuse used by most of the girls.

In this girl's case he's either uninterested, using the guys bs claim of "not knowing what to say" or "how to talk to a girl", or he's trying to play it cool by being the one with lower interest so he has higher value aka a pua douche.

Yes, I really think when women rationalize that a guy is "shy", he's usually just not interested. Because I've seen guys who act totally diffferent when they're around girls they do like. Contrary to what people say on here, 90% of adult males will show some form of interest. He may be more or less obvious depending on his personality, but if he never tries to contact you or goes out of his way to talk to you then he does not like you.

I play coy sometimes when I'm not interested or not that interested. I'm in no way shy. It's just that some girls look at me they see I'm good looking, they see I'm confident, smart, whatever and then they head over heals in love with me with barely even knowing me. It was fun when I was in my early 20's and wanted to sleep around, but I'm looking for a serious relationship now and I want girls to want me for me, not my looks. =/ Sure you can think I'm hot but control yourself and talk to me like a person. Stop treating me like a piece of meat.

Probably using shy as an excuse in some cases. If you are completely open with someone and say hi/smile/talk to hem when you see them, if on top of that they are still not trying direct/indirect ways to contact you, they aren't really interested.
