How long does it take a shy guy to open up?

We've been friends for almost two years now. We've fooled around twice recently, but both times he had get some drinks in him before he made a move.

He seems really into me when we're together, and he's really flirty over texts, but we can go several days without talking until I message him again. He always seems happy to hear from me, but it makes me insecure that I have to do a lot of the initiating.

This is actually based off the women interest. If a guy is shy, he is shy because he thinks women will harm him. Every one is programmed, like how every girl says she wants confidence. What is confidence? What is insecurity? Women fail to understand that these traits have nothing to do with the way a guy will treat you or happiness! Even the smartest of people that do understand physiology have the lowest confidence. The truth is people are mean! People are dishonest! People want you to hate yourself because they feel insecured themselves! Some men have been mistreated horribly by plenty of women that they think every girl is out to harm them! This is why it's based off of women for shy guys, because guaranteed they have been mistreated! It's on you to show him that he is safe with you!

He's into you. He just seems like he's not used to having a woman's attention. I would say to give him time, but I don't know how long you two have been at least acting like there might be more than a friendship. He may need a reality check that you're a woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to look elsewhere for it if she's not getting it.

It's hard to make the first move. Text him something like "call me if you want to hang out later" I'm shy myself and never know what the right move is. Keep doing this and he will open up.
