Why do women objectify themselves and then complain that men are doing it?

Girls place so much sexual value on their own looks. That alone seems to determine whether a girl considers herself to be in a guy’s league or out of his league.

Girls want to be pursued and impressed. They present themselves as prizes to be won (some girls even use words like ‘prize’ and ‘win’), rather than as human beings who want to find love. With all the effort that a man puts in to get a woman, of course he’ll be tempted to view her as a thing and not a person.

Then of course some girls are open to be basically bought. It’s no secret that a rich guy, no matter how ugly in both looks and personality, will never be lacking in girls.

So, since women objectify themselves, why do they complain that men are objectifying them? We’re only following your lead.

I never heard girls say prize or win when refering to themselves? that's weird, but anyways, I think it's more that girls act like what they think guys want.

If you ask one of those questions, "guys what do you want in a girlfriend/wife" the first things mentioned are usually looks, followed by a few things not that far from looks. There are loads of studies on that, men always list things like nice body, long hair, soft skin, pretty face ... first and sometimes followed by being a good cook or mother or being polite, but not far beyond that. Things that generally aren't listed are ambition, intelligence, having a career or even just for something, independence, education... In fact many men aren't shy of admitting that they intimidated by a lot of those things in women

The media reflects that. Everyday. So how exactly do you expect girls that grow knowing that to act?

Likely because the gals that are complaining about being objectified generally aren't the ones that objectify themselves. Very rarely do I find the gals that objectify themselves complain about being objectified their only complaints are when they aren't getting what they want from the objectification.

Egh I'm not seeing how placing sexual value on one's looks is objectifying themselves as to me that it is equating physical attractiveness to be sexual attractiveness which isn't unreasonable as I would imagine most people are sexually attracted to physically attractive people.

because of internalized misogyny. it's the way we're socialized,girls as young as 10 years old are on diets. thing is,you're not following our lead,we're all following the lead of those before us who've set up a system where men are seen as subjects,and women as objects. studies have been done-and when men look at women,the parts of their brain that light up are the same ones that light up when using tools.

Since when does the opinion of a man matter to a girl unless she wants something from him that she doesn’t have... which is where sexual manipulation comes into play. Every time a guy takes a girl out it revolves around him pleasing her and him having to spend his money on her, not the other way around which is expected of a man and he is judged socially based upon this. This is why women dress nicely, to be catered to, to be noticed and to be respected (at least that one used to be the case when self-respect was commonplace). The misconception stated here is not because of what men say or think it’s because of what women tell other women about men assuming what they think based upon generalizations as well as all of those websites that give false information like “how to please your man” and all of that feminist crap that is really nothing more than sexism against men as well as media trying to tell you how to think while they’re only real goal is to divide through spreading negativity because that creates victims which creates dependence on someone telling you you’re always right leading to constant viewers creating an influx of money.

Hollywood also sexualizing everything making women feel as though they are not normal and not sexy unless they fit the standards of movie stars causing them to be susceptible to cosmetic advertisements which those same celebrities endorse as well as social media de-socializing our culture where people would rather spend time on a phone instead of talking to a stranger which leads people to believe the garbage they read in turn being ignorant to actual social life because their social life involves a screen… they assume everyone is out to get them, because that’s what the screen tells them. I am well aware that all women are not like this though a high percentage are and growing, just like there are some men that do fit this category but most are not. Ironically the small category of men that do fit this are the ones that the vast majority women tend to seek the most because for some odd reason women seem to be attracted to these assholes Leading guys who are nice to develop this same mentality out of failure with women ( i’m sure you’ve heard the phrase nice guys finish last that comes through experiences guys face with women) and then the women complain and blame all men through generalizations while spreading these generalizations through social media, Word of mouth, as well as media articles, etc. and then this bitter circle just keeps going around without taking any personal responsibility on either side. The key to fixing everything is personal responsibility because I’ve actually found by talking to a lot of men that most men are more attracted to women in their natural state because women who wear make up or actually seen as more untrustworthy because they are already putting on a fake persona and it is already been scientifically proven that women as well as men who wear a natural hair colors is a direct sign of mental illness by as much as an 85% ratio.
