"However, what people want in a relationship hasn't changed.". This statement is incorrect. It has changed a lot!

    Good MyTake, though. :)
    And thanks for being here.

What do you think has changed about what people want in a relationship? Don't people still want love, sex, companionship, faithfulness, and to grow old together?

@OlderAndWiser With the absolute utmost respect, sir... if I had the option to click a laugh react on what you just said, I would have done so.

For good humor, though, let me respond to that. And I will do so in parts. I will address each issue separately:

      Do people still want sex?
Yes. In fact, more people want sex than before. Especially more women. (Referring to pre-marital sex, specifically.) That is a change. But the greatest change is most likely among girls (juveniles). There is a reason why the HPV vaccine is being heavily promoted for middle school girls. Because middle school girls are having sex.

      Do people still want love?
Some do still. But many do not. There are growing trends -- on both side of the gender divide -- of people desiring more casual relationships that are not based in love. Romance is seen as an archaic and outdated concept.

      Do people still want companionship?
Some do. Many just want to have sexual intercourse as a recreational experience to feel physical pleasure and achieve orgasms. Partners are chosen for that purpose and that purpose alone. In many cases, couples do not spend time together outside of sexual encounters.

      Do people still want faithfulness?
A plurality does still want exclusive relationships. However, a growing minority believes in the concept of "open relationships.". A growing minority believes in swinging. A growing minority believes in cuckoldry. A growing minority believes in polyamory. And a growing minority believes in temporary marriages. (Meaning they don't believe in commitment for life. They believe that it's okay to cancel the contract if it's "not working out.")

Do people still want to grow old together?
Not necessarily. If they get tired of their partner and/or "just don't feel a spark anymore," many believe that it's perfectly okay to just break up and start over with someone else.

I really like older people on GaG. They have lot of experience and interesting insights on things.

You’re same age as my uncle, who has a 2 year old grandchild lol

lol. What do they always say? My parents often say you're only as old as you feel.

The spirit in that "old" body is the same spirit that was in that body when he was 20. Your body ages, your heart doesn't.

I think, one of the few ''recent'' improvements is, that age groups now mix much more than i. e. in my teenager days, and ears still don't listen always, but at least they are not closed ;)

Sir, thanks for all your advices. I always found valuable what older people have to say.

Wisdom not always comes with age, when it does is something to treasure, specially if it's from someone who have lived for decades.

Nice Take, but I'm going to be honest with you. I saw that you said you like working with people 13-25 but you have tendency to talk to anyone who is under the age of 30 like they are stupid or like you know more. Even your name is conceited. I don't necessarily think some things you say are wrong, but you have to learn to respect what younger people say instead of constantly thinking you are right.

Sounds like you're kind of sensitive about it. It's not that old; two years ago I skied with a 62 year old who kicked my ass on the double-blacks.

People need to listen to the older generation. I relish the stories they tell , they past they lived.
