Why Girls Like Shy Guys

Shy guys always have a way of suprsing us. They have their secrets, which makes them all the more interesting. Mostly, I think shy guys are impressive to outgoing girls because thy show off their charisma through body language rather than words. Extroverted guys talk to much and come off as conceited, but introverted guys are inviting and peculiar. I think most girls consider shy guys more romantic because it is shown off in a more private and meaningful way. What are your thoughts?

I don't like shy guys.

They are a hard nut to crack, and can be boring after a while, even irritating when you're the one making all the effort and making all the moves.

Extroversion does not mean a guy is conceited and unromantic, introversion does not mean that they are romantic or kind.

Some women say they like shy guys, but they tend not to like them in real life. If a man is out at a nightclub and just stands in the corner he will pick up no women. The majority of the time the guy has to make the first move, so even though women say they like shy guys, in actuality that's not who they end up with.

- What girls consider shy: normally confident and a cool/fun person to be around, but only slightly shy around the girl they like. The only sign of shyness is blushing and maybe smiling a lot.

- What guys consider shy: socially awkward, dont know how to talk to people well enought to hold a conversation for a few minutes. Has not much friends. Is usually very, very shy (and nervous) when meeting new people. Shaking, sweating, loss of balance and lightheadedness are some signs.

While I can appreciate that there are some women who do like shy guys, this has largely not been my experience. I suppose I might have two strikes against me in the sense that not only do I tend to be shy, but I'm also introverted, and while the two are not the same thing, it seems to me that when these two traits coincide that, while I do have interesting things to say, it can be hard to start a conversation with me and I have also been told I am intimidating and difficult to approach... so I guess that makes strike three. Just my opinion... ;-)

I was once shy... yeah didn't work too well for me. A lot of girls will immediately assume the worst: you have no friends, you are socially inept, you lack confidence, you are 'weird' or creepy, etc. The reason why extroverted guys 'talk so much' is because they're trying to impress you and show you that they have things going on. Most girls don't have the patience to drag this out of 'introverts' and I don't see that as being a good relationship dynamic. Anyway, if you genuinely like shy guys that's cool, but in general, it just isn't a good approach for guys.

A better approach is to have the good traits of both. Extroverted and talkative (this does not at all mean 'dumb') when meeting people but able to connect deeply with them too. This is much better than being an extreme case of one or the other. Hope this helps :)

After reading other opinions, I would like to say that yes, I DO know that introversion and shyness are not the same thing. I think other opinions actually make more sense. Guys define the word 'shyness' as nervousness and a lack of confidence, whereas girls may see it a bit differently. That makes sense. Basically what I'm saying is that being shy and socially awkward does not work ever.

I like shy guys... for me it's not a problem because I'm pretty confident and don't have a problem to talk to a guy and maybe even get rejected. There's nothing sexier than a mysterious person. A person who doesn't reveal that much so they could be anyone you imagine. But I'm being honest with you... it's tough if a person doesn't open up that easily. So you feel like you're the one putting all the work into a conversation or a date for example and nothing happens. So if a guy is mysterious but shows he's insterested after awhile it's cool but if he takes to long I'll think it's useless to keep talking to him even though he maybe thinks differently.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't really like the shy, quiet type of guys. I love guys who are extroverted, energetic, social, life of the party. I think because that's how I am and I want someone who can match my level so we can be dynamic together. For me it's not the case of opposites attract. Not saying I wouldn't ever be interested in a shy guy, but so far in my life it hasn't happened. :/

Girls don't actually like shy guys because shy guys will never make a move. They'll just sit there looking at you hoping you make a move, and let's be honest, the average girl couldn't be bothered to get off her ass because she's too shy as well. What you like is the mystery surrounding the guy, not necessarily his shyness. If you take some guy who doesn't let too much out about himself and combine it with a level of quiet confidence, that dude will make your panties soaked.

Most girls don't like shy guys, they feel they're boring, have some sort of issues, can't have a normal conversation... that's why confidence is the main trait a girl wants.

I think this is bullshit. Most girls prefer an outgoing confident guy over a shy one. Girls who prefer shy guys are in the minority.

Usually the shy guys who are most saught after are really good looking. They are the ones who get labeled as "mysterious". The average shy guy will be considered boring or weird.

For most girls, yeah, probably. Personally I love shy guys, but being shy myself, have no idea how to approach them. Every time I mean to say something to a guy like that, I just end up saying nothing, because I overthink it and then nothing comes out.

The problem with shy people is that they'd probably be best with someone else who is shy, but since both people are shy, nothing ever happens. Or maybe that's just me.

And then you just end up with a giant pile of what-ifs, because things might have turned out entirely differently if you had just said something. You always mean to say something, to ask them out or in a lesser case just start a conversation with them. But you never do, and then you run out of chances.

Okay, I find this to be extremely inaccurate. I am a shy and introverted guy, and nothing I do ever works out very well when it comes to girls.

I try hard to be "normal" in everyday life but that leads to anxiety and all the other teenage emotions. x10. This "trying" leads for girls to develop a slight interest in me, but when they found out that I'm shy and introverted they quickly lose interest.

When I act naturally no girls develop any interest, and when I ask my female friends they say I just need to get out there and cheer up a bit.

So no, girls do not like shy guys. You like the guys who will try to get you to notice them. But if you do find a shy and/or introverted guy and you lead him on hoping he'll ask you out. It's almost like torture for us, thinking that you like us but you never make a move.

I dont think so. Even if they did like a shy guy, the guy would never find out. Im a shy guy, never dated or have a girl say anything remotely close to being interested. Years after i have known a girl i might realize that she was checking me out a long time ago, but thats it.

I love shy guys. I'm outgoing so we have no problem being together. I love that he only pays attention to me and not a flirt because obviously he's shy lol. He is so attentive and caring and romantic. He doesn't come off as cocky or over confident like most guys I've dated. A shy guy can make a woman feels special because he doesn't treat other women the same way. Well that is just my experience. I'd always choose a shy guy over an over confident man.

For the millionth time, shyness is NOT the same as introversion.

Let's say there's a party on Friday night. The introvert probably has no desire to go and will stay home. The shy person might want to go, but either doesn't go because they think they have no choice because they will freeze when trying to interact, or goes but doesn't have a good time at all because of this. This is an oversimplified example, but you get my point.

i'm not as shy as i was, but i always tend to get a bit shy/timid around girls i think are attractive. In face thats my tell tale sign i'm interested in a girl/find her attractive.
