Is such an incredibly real issue growing up male. I lost my virginity to a girl I barely even knew while at a party because of bullying and intimidation along those very lines. It took me many many years to build the courage to finally come out as trans but in doing so I lost virtually all of my guy friends because they were concerned about extremely petty shit that I'm sure you can imagine. Sorry for the rant but, I feel the need to also express the difficulty of trying to do anything that strays from the "social male norm". Men can and should be sensitive; men should be caring and kind; men don't have to be the "protector" not anymore, not in today's society; men should share goals and aspirations; men are people too... yet generally they are brought up to the idea they must behave a certain way or fill a certain role. F that idea; men deserve to be treated the exact same way everyone else in the world should be treated, with kindness, care, love, and acceptance.

Being raised male was a horrible experience, you can't cry, you can't have deep feelings, you gotta love sports, you have to be strong, you have to be a fighter, you have to provide, you have to essentially follow the leader. Socially heteronormative males should be a cookie cutter rendition of the males that came before them.

So yeah, I feel ya.. but let me also say this, you are free to make your own path, to be whoever/whatever it is that you want to be. It took me 25 years to learn that and actually take it to heart. People who are toxic in your life need to be weeded out and will be once you start on that path you create and the people who remain are those who you will realize are actually genuine and who care about you.

Be who you want to be, be who you ARE. What others think about you 70% of the time is made up in your own head. We were brought up to be cautious about who we are and what we do in public for fear of ridicule and rejection. Let me tell you though most people couldn't, can't, and won't care at all about what you do or who you are. I consider myself a very caring and kind person and try to make everyone smile and even then I cannot even tell you what the last person i saw at the grocery store today looked like, even in the slightest. We truly aren't built to do that.

So lift your head high, without fear in your heart, and live how you want because that's all that truly matters in the end.

3: Recognize pitfalls and avoid falling into them yourself. Accept people as they are, because as you've learned, you can't change them. We all have to make our own mistakes. You do, too.

When you accept people as they are, then you can love. If you refuse to, all that's left for you is hate. And that's not fun for anyone.

I don't know where in this life you read the rules are fair. But they're not. Not for anyone. And some of those unfair rules are written in stone. So the only thing you can do is man up, pussy.

Find people like the first and make friends with them.

I used to be a victim of bullying in school and my "friends" who were all guys used to ostracise me because I refused to play wrestling with them (where they would emulate WWE wrestling moves, but really injure themselves).

Because of this, I was picked on on a daily basis by almost all the boys in class, my nicknam was vulgarity and I was almost always picked last for football.

It sucked. A lot. And I was angry.. a lot.

But I learnt to pay them no mind and build myself up.

I found new friends after I changed class and even got good friends who wanted the best for me from helping out in church.

I did the best I could for most of my life and surrounded myself with good people.

And now here I am, with no regrets and as happy as I can be.

It may seem impossible or difficult at first, but you can do it too. I believe in you.

Don’t put too much of your own worth in whether or not people take your advice. Meaning don’t help others because it will make you feel better about yourself. Do it with no strings attached. In the end people can only truly help themselves. Even if they take your advice, it’s their own action and mindset that will get them through whatever struggle they have.

My father lets women mistreat him and walk over him. My mother treated him this way and his current wife does too. I’ve tried pointing similarities out and trying to get him to see his behavior but he doesn’t listen. And it is rough and it does hurt to see him go through that.

Its sad how true this is. I don't like talking to most people in general but talking about my problems is even harder decause that's how guys are raised and treated nowadays. I have one friend I can talk to. If I had a significant other I could talk to her but thats another problem entirely. For the most part I find an outlet in drawing and games but it doesent always work. Alcohol is after that and it just isn't healthy.
