I agree with what you said 100%. But I'd like to add one thing, alpha females.
The advantage men have over women at a work place is that we have been working in groups of our own gender at work a lot longer than women. But now with more gender equality, we are seeing more groups of women and alpha females.
The reason groups of males work is that an alpha is established first which allows a hierachy to fall into place. I have seen women struggle with this but it has become less katty and more productive over time. But this will not always remain.
Just as a good group of male works forms a brotherhood, a good group of female can form a sisterhood, but this is far less likely research has shown, unfortunately.
I don't see how having a look and having the attributes you listed are related.
Height is uncontrollable, for one. So that shouldn't matter.
I actually don't necessarily believe this take makes sense. Could it be that taller, stronger guys are just given these attributes because of some halo effect? Like projecting personality onto someone because of how they present themselves?
I agree that social standing is a real thing that women seem to like (fame, authority etc). So I don't disagree there, but I'm not sure about all the stuff on 'the look.' Doesn't really make sense to me, in my opinion.
Meh, so many of the so called alphas from their 20s end up not so alpha in their 40s. Life hits hard. True grit and intelligence can’t be measured by how you get the bartenders attention or some other silly shit.
Anyone that needs to be a leader really needs people to follow them... usually weak minded people... it’s a bit pathetic really. Because they need to lead, they do care what others think of them and chase their approval... not very “alpha”.
In a way, the gold diggers are the smarter women as they identify the truly successful vs what they think will be successful. Proven vs unproven.
This was a good take, but I didn't like the ending. Because it implied that only dominant males are real men. If that's the case, then there are a great many men are born completely incapable of being real man, and that is illogical.
But you made a lot of good points, and I really enjoyed reading this
Excellent myTake, you illustrated excellent points.
I believe it all comes about attitude, which can be "go getter" or "victor" mentality that drives your life and your relationships.
I'm slightly below average height and I stand lower to most women of my area, but it's a non issue since I am confident and straightforward (and a bit ruthless), and that's what attracts them.
socially dominant is nosnense as well :D i'd call it social competence. cause being die hard dominant is dumb. knowing when to behave in what way is what makes you a competent and successfull social agent. physical appearance and good genes will obviously help but isn't necessary at all.
it's how you gain authority. do you do that by being a bully? or do you do it with empathy, knowledge and good social behavior while having a strong stance acting confident?
it's not about behaving in one certain way. it's about knowing at which time to behave in which way and being able to put that into practice as well.
I don't use the "alpha/beta" labels, because humans are not wolves, we are more complex. But the fact remains that women are hardwired to be attracted to masculinity, and men are hardwired to be attracted to femininity. Both are losing theirs.
Estrogen affects women by converting the rest to free testosterone. I have quite a bit of research on this matter. I really think it's the dawn of contraception and plastic (bpa), since then male fertility has dropped very low.
@Warmapplecrumble Interesting there could be environmental factors. There was a crime wave in the late 80s and early 90s that was attributed to the amount of lead in the environment. They started to get rid of the lead, and crime rates dropped.
Thats very interesting. I stand firm in believing its the estrogen. I also know other sea life is being destroyed by it. :-/ they need to ban plastic and contraception (or make one that does not interfere with hormones or make drugs that have minimal effects on the environment). Majority of drugs go in urine and then water, and that water ends up in the sea and these little drugs can't be filtered out.
So what's the difference from the alpha beta trolls? Just labeles? There's no alpha or beta if you're rich, famous, good social skills, and most importantly treats people like an asshole they will call you " alpha" no matter what is your gender, and for the physical aspects it's just an extra, there are tons of ugly uncharesmatic influencers, basically the "alpha" in humans is a state of mind, who is asking for attention, who is asking for recognition, who is trying to involve, who is trying to put down others, who is trying to take the opportunity... Etc and that's why humans disgust me, they haven't evolved from animal societies and the ones who did are looked at as some sort of utopians, like a civilized being in a pack of animals
Great take. I like the brevity of it. The complexity of human social behavior is the key. You can be the "alpha" in one situation, a "beta" in another, and an outcast or non-participant "omega" in many others.
The biggest factor is testosterone. A high-test man is going to be calm, confident, and competitive. A low-test guy is going to be irritable, have a fragile ego, and shy away from competition or conflict.
Every man who's athletically gifted has a longer ring finger compared to his index finger. It's caused by high levels of testosterone in the womb. Also, every time a man succeeds at something, he gets an uptick in test. Losing causes a decline. Same reason lions lose their mane when they're defeated in a fight. It's also the reason a prize fighter will go against lesser fighters before a big match.
It happens with you ladies, too, but the testosterone gets converted to estrogen.
This is one of the variables in that analytic theory (I haven't kept up with it, so I don't know the current research). One of the keys to understanding how someone performs in certain situations, independent of their abilities, is their prior successes or failures in similar situations. The interaction of thoughts, emotions, and chemical responses in the human body is fascinating to me. Chronic worry causes elevated levels of cortisol, which breaks down muscle proteins and causes fat accumulation in certain areas, and it all starts with a psychological stressor. So an event caused a thought, which caused an emotion, which caused a chemical response, which ultimately affected the body in a way that altered their physical appearance. Absolutely fascinating.
As for your MyTake, when you were talking about looking the part, it's a similar spiral but in a positive direction. The accumulation of higher levels of T causes a physiological response that eventually gives him a stronger jaw and skull, thicker brow and temporal ridges, denser bones, higher muscle mass, etc... the look corresponds to his mental and physical past as much as his present state.
Alpha and beta are just made up names for introvert and extrovert people, I have seen people very strong introvert people and they usually dont like to be leaders, and some weak extrovert people. Great take.
Seems like all common sense/knowledge isn't it? Guess I dont really see the point of this post. For however long it takes, so long as a man desires to be "the man", he never will be. Just be happy with life, be the best version of you that you can be, be kind and thoughtful, and appreciate life. 🤷♂️ ~Namaste
And pickles are nothing but cucumbers soaked in vinegar. Giving it different name doesn't change what it is or the meaning. And Alpha means "dominant" anyway. There are alpha males and females in all animal species, the same applies to us as well. Some of us are strong leaders and some of us are not. We really got to learn to accept it.
Plus if Alpha males didn't exist, then why do you think so many men want to be the dominant one in the relationship? You don't see all those anti feminism post for nothing. Men want to be dominant, it's what their meant to do, and it's a internal instinct. When men feel emasculated they start crying about how women are awful and how ruined we are cause it makes them feel unneeded.
I think you make some good points. The only criticism I would have is the end of referring to them as "real men" it seems to me that you are actually hoping to offend people with that little comment at the end by implying that most men (as you specify only a few have these traits) aren't really men. Aside from that good take.
I find the same thing: when I write something that strikes a nerve, a lot of guys get quite offended! - lol. Like it says in free-ebooks' "Are Men the Weaker Sex", too many guys are controllers and want to act like they're a pack leader. They're often abusers (and abusers don't make good leaders). Too many guys aren't strong enough to have power without abusing it.
The whole alpha, beta, omega thing was scrubbed it was a mistake the researchers observing the pack of wolves later released it was fathers, mothers, older brothers and sisters and younger brothers and sisters (with inbreeding of course, their animals).
I've never bothered with these things all I know is as a friend don't cross me, as a partner work on you I'll work on me and if you need I'll be there if you want something from point me in a direction I'll decide if I'll do it or not.
What is the point of this idea, and making categories of the male sex, and does female sex have categories too? lol this is so silly, anyways i don't believe in this bullshit, we all want to be good, and being good means literally being successful regardless of your gender, i am not dreaming about being alpha male, i am obsessed with success and i earn it, you can call me ultra, a new category on top of all the categories you have stated and copy pasted from the internet, The scourge of the century.
Just ignore them m8 you know their opinion dosent matter who you are is not defined by what they think they don't know just shrug it off m8 they are idiots and only you can define you you do exist and you do matter no matter what anybody tells you you do have significance we love in a society where they worship alphas yet also cry out toxic masculinity just say fuck your opinion you just look like a weak idiot and idgaf what you have to say because your full of shit
They're just men that are healthy , intelligent and competent. Well rounded individuals, you can find them in any group social animals. People seek out alpha males to lead them because they know what needs to be done so that the tribe can survive. Top scientists, political leaders, philosophers and so on. Jordan Peterson is a good example.

Due to estrogens in the environment.
@Warmapplecrumble Maybe. It's more due to societal changes over the last 50 years. But I said both, this applies to women as well.
Estrogen affects women by converting the rest to free testosterone. I have quite a bit of research on this matter.

Estrogen dominance in women can also cause pcos.

Of course. :)

I love an educated man
I'm a social analytical theory girl myself

Agree Wowgirl!
I also think true confidence is quiet. People who call themselves alphas are actually quite insecure deep down.
I agree
