I accidentally told my guy best friend that I loved him?

So I was with a bunch of friends and was telling them goodbye and that I loved them. I hug my guy best friend and accidentally say, "I love you..." I paused and then added quickly, "as a friend." I was super freaked out and never meant to say that I loved him. I am slightly freaked out about it now. I will say he has not treated me any different and we still hangout just like usual but now I wonder if he thinks/knows that I like him? I am especially wondering what guys would think if their close girl friend (not girlfriend) accidentally said I love you to them.

Imagine yourself at age 75 and thinking back about someone whom you cared for but never said anything. It will seem very stupid to have kept your affection for someone a secret looking back on life. Why do we have such a problem telling someone how we feel? Exactly what level of embarrassment is worth avoiding to not let love into your life?

I don't think he believes you if his behaviour towards you hasn't changed. He might think you meant "as a friend" and not "as a boyfriend"
