My boyfriend is so quiet around me, but around his friends and even strangers on the street, he's outgoing and talkative. What should I do?

It always gets so awkward when we're out to eat or driving in his car... he isn't talkative and funny with me like he is when he's with anyone else.

I've heard people say things about other guys who act quiet and shy around you that it's because they really really like you... but I don't know if I should think that way. I can be like that too which is why it's so awkward... we have literally nothing to say at times.

We've been together for a month. He was interested in me in the beginning, and he is extremely sweet and kind to me, and I really like him, it's just unnerving to me that he is so quiet only when he's alone with me.

What should I do? Nothing? Ask him if there's something I've done wrong, something bothering him, etc? Your advice is appreciated.

As an introvert myself, I will say that it is probably because he just doesn't trust you or know you that well yet. Personally, I am closed and quiet when around people that don't make me feel comfortable and/or I know little of when it comes to their likings, thoughts, and personality. I was the same way your boyfriend is when i started dating my ex, and I believe I was like that for the first two months or so. I began to open up as I learned more about her and spent more time. To me, as an introvert, I can be serious and quiet around people, but around friends I am talkative, humorous, always laughing and smiling, overall talking just too much, really. However, before being able to speak with my girlfriend, I wanted to talk and tried to, but my mind was always blank and I felt terrible and that maybe it was because she wasn't right for me, which wasn't the case, it was just that I didn't know her.

I think in your situation it might be that he just doesn't know you too well, and thus doesn't feel all so comfortable. As you spend more time with in, share experiences and opinions/thoughts/feelings, he will start to be able to let himself speak his mind.

In my opinion, it just will take some time and getting to know one another. Try experiencing things together of which both of you have in interest in be it a movie, book, whatever it is. Talking about those similar interests and view on things. Once he feels that he understands you a bit better and be able to trust you with his thoughts, he should be able to open up, but it will take some time.

Also, since you are his girlfriend, someone special to him, he might be even more reserved because he doesn't want to give you a bad impression and is scared to reveal some of his personality before knowing you will accept it and come to like it. He might be playing extra cautious because of that as well.

Look he really does like you so he doesn't know how to act. Trick is telling him that you want him to treat you like he treats his friends. Ougoing and funny.
