Boyfriend makes racist jokes?

In highschool all my friends were white. I guess I wasn't your stereotypical ghetto black girl, so most people just considered me white.
There was this guy making all these racist jokes and I asked him why he didn't think that offended me, he said "because your different, your not like all the other ghetto black people. So I can say it right, because I'm not talking about you I'm just talking about them"
I've heard this happens to a lot of other black people. I'm not sure if your in the same situation. But I guess to a lot of people if you don't act like your stereotype, then they assume it's okay to say whatever they want about your race and it's okay.

that's what you have to pay for getting a white boy friend outside of your race. they know you hate your own race and hate yourself. getting a white boy friend doesn't change your social status or anything. you are still the same no matter what, just more embarrassing. Some Asian girls marry to white guy and think that they are white, but then their husband treat them like a house maid. well, that's what you are and will be always.

Did you know him before you started dating? Is this new behavior or something that's been going on a while?

If you aren't comfortable with the way he's acting, you need to speak up... it's possible he doesn't realize he's been offending you.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's not trying to be rude or offensive... but even so, it's pretty insensitive.

That is very hurtful and strips your self esteem (I can relate as my husband made a lot of fat jokes when I gained weight when I had our daughter). You've got to make him see that... if he doesn't stop, find someone who supports you and builds you up rather than tears you down.

I have a groups fm fiends that is very diverse. We are always making racist jokes to each other. We are comfortable enough with each others as friend to make them and laugh and know that's not what we actually think

Unfortunately girls don't have a sense of humor when it comes to topics that are sensitive to people, so it's really his fault for joking with you anyway.

If u think he's being offensive with his racial jokes (as in u feel he isn't just being playful), u need to speak up.

Remember that anything negative he says or thinks about black people... means he is indirectly saying / thinking those things about YOU!

Sometimes things can be racial and not so much racist. I would need an example please to really say for sure. Does he know how you feel about it. Its possible that he doesn't mean it to be racist, and if he really does like you I would say he doesn't
