What does it mean when your guy friend stares at your lips?

i have this guy friend who lately has been acting a little extra friendly... I don't know if he's just playfully flirting or trying to see if I like him to.. but sometimes I can't help but notice that when we talk he stares down at my lips and I know that its my lips and not down my shirt :) but what does that mean... are there any hidden messages there or is he just casually looking around my face... he also makes super intense eye contact... he is one of the hardest people to read so I don't know if I am exaggerating or not.. anybody have any ideas?

Sounds like he's been reading some advice off this site! We've been suggesting that guys gaze at her lips, give her strong non-verbal cues (like staring) and then try to get physically closer and see if she gives the "ok" vibe to be kissed.

Your friend is hinting that he'd like to be more. Decide NOW what you want to do and either make it gently clear that you're not interested or send him some positive signals back!

But you HAVE to tell us! Do you like him, too?! I'd guess yes if you're double checking his behavior & intentions. :D

I didn't before but since his break up with his girlfriend we've been spending all this time together.. I don't wanna be the rebound chick you know? so I guess that's why I'm not sure what to do... I think I might have feelings for him but I think that if we were to date and then break up then our friendship would become awkward and eventually go away... which is exactly what has happend with his ex so I'm sooo confused :$

Yikes, I didn't expect to hear that. Okay...he's repeating a behavior that got him a Girlfriend before. Understandable. And you're right, he's going to need some time to make sure they are truly over before he is with someone else. They'll probably patch up the friendship later, most likely when he's in another relationship and his new Girlfriend will need to be understanding of that. Not easy to do!

Hey, this is a rude and ridiculous question: Do you have a better personality or are more attractive than his ex? One of my guy friends, who I didn't know liked me, broke up with his Girlfriend and came to ask me out 3 days later. I was the girl he never had the guts to go for but he figured if he was already down he had nothing to loose. We had so much fun together even though we never got around to romance but it was the best summer of my life! Could it be the same situation for you two??

Mmmm... I wouldn't say I'm more attractive or anything like that because she happens to be one of my good friends :( which makes the situation even more complicated! but I am definately more girly and not as harsh and moody... she's a real tomboy and wheres nothing but sporty clothes... I think I'm a better friend to him than she is or was... do you think this situation is better off left alone?

Double yikes! One of your good girlfriends is the ex? I'd say leave it alone for now unless you are CERTAIN it was a clean break-up with no potential for later take-backs AND he is the ONLY guy you want. If you have another crush, don't do this to yourself. Keep him as a friend.

Ok thanks soooo much for the advice! I think that mentally we have a good connection but physically there isn't much there... he was a friend first and I think that's how its gonna stay... I just don't know how to act around him sometimes because he's so wishy-washy... I think that since I helped him after the breakup he has something for me... or I don't know he just texts me all the time and we talk on the phone a lot and we eat lunch together I just don't know what we are amymore

i read in some online article that that usually means a guy wants to kiss/make out with you if he just stares at your lips. lol, I'm interested in things like microexpressions and human psychology and human/animal behavior so yeah...but I could be wrong. lol, damn confusing articles! xD
