Sitting on boyfriend's lap as an indication of sexual interest? and why hands on hips?

When sitting on a bench my boyfriend will occasionally pull me over to sit on his lap or just put my legs on his lap, and i actually feel comfortable with it and like it (We've only held hands, cuddled and kissed). But, i wonder if a guy would take this as i don't mind having sex with him?

I've also found that when kissing oand/or cuddling, he'd put his hands on my hips (i don't feel uncomfortable); i asked him why cuz i was curious; but then he said he didn't even realize that... he also told me that i can tell him to back off at
any point if i feel uncomfortable.

We've been dating for a month and just became official recently and he was actually the one that asked for it.

Well ur at least 18 some him grabbing ur hips or putting ur legs up is just showing affection for u, he feels comfortable with and he seems real respectful, sounds like a good dude. prob would like to eventually take it tp nxt level and that might not mean actual sex but a little more intimate. does that sound close?
