Is being gay a choice?

I'm not gay, I've never been attracted to a woman and for a long time I have had doubts about gay people. Like many people who simply didn't understand, I thought gay people were just promiscuous and dirty. I thought they had perverted thoughts like that of pedophiles and that maybe they might soon start wanting to commit beastilality. I didn't understand them so I made up an understanding of them in my mind. However, after doing some research for a discussion at my University, and after i started to get a lot of information on the topic i just kept researchibg it even after the discussion. I realize that being gay is NOT a choice. I was baffled to find that gay people aren't just making it all up, they can't help bring gay. Theyre just like everybody else, only their gay. And the ones who dress up like opposite genders can't help it either, they genuinely feel that they are the opposite gender. I was like "WHAT?" I swear if people open they're eyes and do some research instead of judging people so critically without knowing anything about them them they can learn acceptance. The thing is, I'm not sizzling mad trying to find a reason to bash gay people more now that I have this information, I'm actually pretty satisfied with the facts I got and I'm glad to know a vast amount of people all over the world weren't just all delusional, but sincere. Acceptance is the key

Yep it is definitely not a choice. There is a reason for it though. The current climate change the earth is going through is causing more homosexual and transgender people to be born.
It's the same scientific principle as how frogs and birds turn into either homosexuals or non reproductive hermaphrodites when their environment is very polluted. Certain chemicals produce the results more so than others. Many of those chemicals are at higher levels in our air now compared to times when the percentage of homosexuals in the population was fewer.

I believe that in some cases, it's a choice, but it's not always a choice. I know two guys, for example, they're twins, that were born with more female hormones than male ones. Since they were little kids they liked girl things and even the way they spoke reminded a girl speaking... well, today they're 18 and one of them has already assumed that he's gay. The other one hasn't yet, but I believe that it's just a matter of time.

Can you help being attracted to men? Did you just wake up and decide you were straight? No. You just are. That's how. Being homosexual isn't dirty or wrong. They're the same as you or I beyond their sexual preferences. Thank you for being accepting of that fact.

To an extent it is a choice as homosexuality is mostly caused by the environment and just like with any environmental influence it is the individuals choice what conclusions they get out of it.

good that you accept them now, its still unclear how this can happen in the society nowadays. sexuality is not a choice, or could you as a straight person suddenly be like "now i like my own sex". i doubt that. so yeah, good for you :D

It’s not a choice whatsoever. There have been multiple attempts to change a person’s sexuality - and none of them yielded any results.
although there isn’t a single gay gene, it’s still not a choice. A combination of genes are responsible for determining sexuality. So yes, it is still genetic. No amount of conversation therapy or hormones can change a person’s sexuality.
