Why are there so few guys in my medical college?

I feel really concerned at the number of guys in my medical college, while for many years I have always supported female enrollment at university, i am really concerned with huge number of males dropping out of college. I mean in my medical class (3rd year) females outnumber guys by a factor of almost 6 to 1 and that gap has been widening each year (quite drastically too).

And although i have not done much research into other universities, but i seems there are a huge number of boys dropping out or not even bothering to study further. Worse still is that no one seems to address this problem and most turn a blind eye.

Now i do consider myself a good feminist but i am beginning o think that something is not right and we are not addressing some issues that are being faced by the guys.

So my question to guys is, why are you guys dropping out of not even enrolling for college? Do you guys feel some kind of pressure?

The school system is failing boys more and more. Thus there are higher rates of boy dropouts as well as worse grades since the entire schoolsystem is stacked towards women during high-school and before. Not to mention that the majority of teachers in the lower grades are female and show a certain bias. Something that isn't just known since yesterday, but for several years and even decades.

Women outnumber men at college by around 55% to 45% for the last 20-30 years.

Then add to this that medical professions are by far not the highest paying fields. Also I bet those who are, are or want to become more specialised. Surgeons, dentists, etc.

Finally accept that boys and girls are different and don't work well with the very same standards. Boys have different learning cues, needs and desires.

Male teachers to the list since boys improve significantly better with male teachers as well as requiring male role models.

Generally speaking the last ~40 years all we focused on was improving girls start into life while no one really did anything like that for boys. Not to mention that the golden school-standard of performance greatly benefits girls. Boys are a lot more practical in learning than girls are. Also reminds me of that study showing how boys suddenly like to read a lot more and read better when they read something that they are interested in (who would have guessed?).

Also add to the list of why boys are more likely to drop-out the lack of involved fathers (dont want to start any blame here, there are shitty fathers who dont give a shit and shitty mothers who prevent fathers to be involved).

Universities are becoming increasingly social-engineering establishments rather than educational establishments. All of these 'social justice' campaigns, including for example campaigns that label all men as rapists, are driving men away.

Secondly, men are more independent thinkers than women. Women are just as capable of independent thinking as men, but in practice they do not engage in it so much. A university degree has become like a fashion item, and we all know that women pay much more attention to fashion than men do. Many men now recognize that university is suffering from inflation of several kinds.

I am happy that I graduated from university when I did. Since my graduation, the tuition fees have tripled, and my alma mater has come under siege from 'social justice' warriors. If I were finishing secondary school now, I would probably go and take an English-taught degree in another European Union country, where the tuition fees are much lower or non-existent, such as Germany or the Netherlands, both of which furthermore have much lower levels of misandry than the Anglophone world, from what I have been able to tell.

Outside of Medicine, it's true there are overall more female college grads than male college grads. Nursing is still heavily female though. There's also many more male graduates in Engineering and Physics than female graduates.

I read where females are now 57% of US college students, having passed men in numbers sometime in the 70's. It didn't seem that way when I was in college but then I was mostly in math/science classes which still tend to be more male-dominated.

I don't know the reason, as males outnumber females by generation until you get to the 60+ age range, at which time the longer life span of women begins to show in the demographics. Just about everyone I know (who isn't much older or younger) has a college degree, M or F.

Must be nice to be a guy in college these days from a sexual standpoint...

College or medical college?
From what ik, there is a increase/need for demand for male nurses. Not many guys want to be a nurse despite it's job opportunities for guys. Whereas becoming a doctor an whatever is hard enough and in this generation, the attitude of guys or just people in general are aiming/or already with being lazy. With all this technology and distractions, then it's sort of understandable how some guys can get distracted from life priorities and satisfy what they may feel now.

There is that pressure, too that you mention and some guys are unable to handle it.

Not pressure from the women. We feel pressure from society's view on masculinity. I'm assuming those guys aren't in any advanced medical majors like Neurology or Radiology or getting multiple PhD's?

Unless you're talking about all the guys who are majoring in being a nurse then that's just obvious why they're dropping out. Being a nurse is still looked at as being a woman's field and the men feel incredibly emasculated and are sick of other guys (including myself) making fun of them for picking a girly career path.

Yes, but not for something they have to shell out a lot of money for - at least money they have. If they were/are smart enough and don't have it (the money), then they don't get it (degree) - even if it's regarding a career (in medicine or any other program). I was that way when I graduated high school. I didn't want a humongous loan after I graduated because I wasn't sure if I would get a job. I'm glad I didn't, because I could have ended up in a bad spot, very similar to a lot of people coming out of college today. Getting a job is no certainty, especially these days. But even back then (before the student loan debt was in the daily mainstream media as it has been as of recent), it wasn't really a guarantee to get a job. Granted, I went for a computer degree instead of a liberal arts degree, and still would have at a 4 year school. Also, some of us guys didn't get good enough grades in high school.

I noticed the same thing at my school. I'm in med school as well and there are hardly any guys in it. It may not be as dramatic as 6:1, but it is still eye opening.
