What does it mean when he touches my face?

So one of my guyfriends, who I really like, has made it a habbit to touch my face whenever we say goodbye. He just puts his hands on my cheek, looks at me briefly, pulls me in for a hug and says his goodbyes.
But the thing is, touching someone's face just seems like such an intimate thing to do, and it's just confusing me everytime he does it.
What does it mean when he touches my face?
