I think there's a difference, although pretty subtle at times. I can be sad without being hurt- I can be sad that a friend died, I can be sad thay a phase in my life is over, I can be sad that my life isn't going the way I planned, I can be sad just because I'm feeling down. Sadness can be a prolonged thing (depression) or it can be a short-lived thing, but it's not necessarily attached to the action of another person, in fact a lot of the time it's not.
Being hurt though, that's attached to a specific action by someone in your life. You're hurt that someone cheated on you, hurt they said something insulting, hurt they betrayed a confidence, hurt they don't have time for you anymore, hurt they didn't consider your feelings etc. Being hurt can cause profound pain and sometimes intertwine with sadness (ie sad that a phase has ended because your boyfriend/girlfriend cheated on you so you broke up), but the biggest difference is that the pain of being hurt is derived entirely from another person and not yourself.
Both can last a very, very long time, but I think being hurt by another person is more lasting because if the hurt is deep enough it will last forever, even after you get over it there will still be a scar on your heart.

Well to me being sad is just like you will get over it soon. But if you are hurt then it will last a little longer. You when you think about later on in life them you might cry again.
