I think a lot of ladies take it as an insult because they feel that they're being sexualized fetishized or because of the fact that cougar seems to make them old or feel older but in naturality it is a compliment because not many get the compliment of cougar versus being an old lady

I think he was trying to make a compliment but it wasn't a very good one. If you are just ten years older I don't think he should consider you a cougar it's like saying your old. Now if the coworker is 18 or 20 then I would understand.
